****The official GT5 Prologue Thread****

One thing i wonder about things like traction control, stability assistance etc is that many of the actual cars use them in real life to help the handling, so if you switch them off then are you actually making the car less realistic?

Anyone bought an F40 yet? I think she drives beautifully. So smooth.

Scary, 3rd gear 168/9MPH I can't even get 4th gear flat out in the F40 on Fuji Speedway. I'm still dialing her in. She's a beauty for drifting though.

Now to buy the Ford GT again, then on a mission for the Ferrari F1!

Well, yes and no. These cars typically do have traction control etc yes, but they're there to reign the car in for normal road use to make it safer to drive, on a track these are actually a detriment to the cars performance so ideally you want them switched off for the fastest lap times. The downside of switching these aids off is obviously you're more likely to spin off, but if you DO manage a decent lap you will be faster than someone who has driver aids enabled.

You guys know how much less control that's actually giving you? Under braking and cornering especially.

You mean in Automatic mode? Yeah, i just learnt that the hard way - an unwanted gear shift with the Ford GT can actually cause it to lose traction midway through a corner

plus things like if you go into an accidental drift you can drop the box the hold it better and get more power out of it... I havn't used auto on games for years i could never ever go back :)

yeah but they still missed out the vtec roar dint they... i wish just one racing game would change the sound a bit from 6k rpm onwards :p

indeed they always do miss it out of most games with vtec hondas in.. i need hope they put the ek9 in the final version. that would be awesome i love that little car

Just got the F40, oh god it's a beast...to handle! Must tame this later...without driving aids I'm all over the place, no wait even with them!

whats the quickest way to make money if you havent opened s class yet? i just cant be bothered to grind away to save for the f430
Do Class C, Race 8 with the Honda Integra, get first place everytime, it will take you roughly 1:08 and you get 7,500 credits per win.

It's tricky to get first place and it took me a while but I can do it nearly everytime now, manual transmission is a must.

I went from 44,000 to 450,000 in about an hour, I worked it out to be roughly 112,500 per 20 minutes. :)

Things I like:
- The races are challenging, not a walk over.
- Suzuka and High Speed Ring are great tracks
- Car handling is good

Things I don't like
- Too little races to earn good money which makes getting all the cars very annoying
- Online is just a ramming fest
- Why do I have to use Sports tyres and not Racing tyres
- The fact I have to buy a M3/F430 etc. for one race when all I want to do is save for a F40
- Analog is worse than GT4, the steering is almost like digital and the X-button isn't pressure sensitve or very little.

nail on the head, xactly how i feel ;)

tbh at the mo i have no idea how i'm gonna end up with the F1... i'm just assuming theres some mondo prize money in the s class races...

yeah there is a very easy S class race.....5 laps about 50 sec per lap going round in circles and you get about 32k.
its almost a guaranteed win unless you cant drive around daytona in circles for a few mins....any car that does near 200mph will get you the win....mine only did 190.

you missed fuji track.

as for the races...some seem a bit too tough tbh
For some reason I suck at Fuji, I can never find the correct cornering speed so either go to fast and run wide or too slow and lose too much speed.

The races I find too hard are the time trials (getting golds) and the races where you have to overtake every car within one lap.

It's all about the drafting in them races.

Edit: I really wish GT5:P supported custom soundtracks:
great driving music. :(
