Hmm,
Just had a wander around autotrader and the various insurance sites etc.
Now as followers of my previous thread probably know, I'm looking for a runabout next month (or two). For the £500-£1k mark AND has to be good on the old insurance. (As people will know my insurance quotes are god damn AWFULL at the best of times).
Anyway, I was looking at getting a corsa, but then I was just looking around seeing if I could get a slightly higher spec one. Wasn't really happening, So I simply searched for hatchbacks with aircon and up popped Peugeot 306 Meridian 1.4. Now it seems perfect little run about for the next 1-2years until I get around to getting my focus (well that's the plan for now at least). What draws me too it is I find it more attractive than a Corsa, near as makes no difference same price per millage. Except the 306 has a lot more bells and whistles (aircon particularly). Performance Seems about the same between the 1.4 306 and 1.2 Corsa (on paper atleast). Oh and 5dr 306's are much much more common (therefore easier) to come across. (Obviously you can still get a 5dr corsa but it just bit harder to find a good deal since the second hand market around here seems to be mostly 3dr's.
And best bit is it's only marginally more expensive to insure than the Corsa. So, whats the catch? Yes its french but if I was to pick up one with say 80k miles and FSH I can't imagine with my little millage (circa 3k a year) for 2 years isn't going to cause it too many problems?
Oh and please before this turns into a debate about a) The cost of my insurance and b) How fiesta 1.25's are better can I remind people to stay on topic. This is corsa vs 306 only.
(Although ideas on little hatchbacks that are similarly spec'ed as the 306 in question is welcome).
