Anyone got a physx by ageia card ?

any game that has physics use the ppu,

I guess you've never done any programming. You're wrong, the card won't do processing for "any physics" in a game, the games need to have aegia support.

And thats all ive gotten through so far, but it does make a difference i dont give a tiny rats a** what anyone says, it works and it works well.

It is great that you are happy with your purchase but please don't then try and get people to buy on that basis, a PPU doesn't make a difference in games that aren't coded for it. As james.miller says it doesn't just 'steal' instructions from the CPU randomly on the vague chance that they might be physics related. If it had that level of heuristics then it could be a fantastic tool and people would be a fool not to make use of it but it doesn't and even Ageia wouldn't claim it as such.
 
any game that has physics use the ppu, ive played many games without the ppu and then with and have noticed a difference even if its just a 5fps difference, games ive noticed a difference in so far-

Crysis
Unreal III
Stalker
Battlefield series
Gears of war
Call of duty 4
Half life 2+
Bioshock

E-mail AGEIA and ask them if the card is helping in any way shape or form in ANY of those games. When they get back to you and say, sorry they don't please copy and paste the response here and possibly add an apology for being rude about it.

The card does not work in games not supported by them, simple as that, there is no ifs and buts about this. THere is no you might be right and everyone else is wrong. 100% for sure it is not doing a single thing in those games.

Oh and My XFI has onboard ram, Crysis runs atleast 2fps faster with the ram on my soundcard

Considering that Nvidia have said that the PPU is Dead and will implement the API in CUDA on the 8000 series then, (and presumably the 9000 as well) then surely no one would be buying a PPU at the moment anyway.

Do feel sorry for Overclockers as they still have some in stock.

Whilst a good idea it hasn't caught on as who is going to develop a game that HAS to have the PPU installed, when there weren't that many out there in real PC's. ATI and Nvidia were talking about Physics on GPU courtesy of HavokFX which was much more appealing to developers as surely every gamer PC out there has an ATI or Nvidia GPU in there.

Whilst there have been games out there that use the PPU they haven't required the PPU to be played as as would make the available market too small.

Personally I can't see physcis becoming really widely used until Microsoft get a DirectX Physics API that will provide a uniform API for physics processing. That way wether is on CPU via Havok or GPU via Nvidia/Ageia it won't matter.
 
crysis which DOES support this card i dont care what anyone says ive tested it and there was a difference before it was in and after, and pretty much any game thats got physics

For those that are not aware its not April Fools at 8.25pm. In fact its ment to be the people who play joke at that time, that are the fools as they got the wrong part of the day.

That’s meant to be true in games that support the XFI. In some games compared to onboard soundcards you can gain 10+ FPS.

The funny thing is there is a half Life modification based on Resident Evi that user’s physx hardware and software. All HL engines are highly modable.

so would no one here consider buying a ppu in the future? Surely they would incorporate the technology into games soon since this card has been out there for a while now?

I wouldn't say never but given Ageia has been bought over by Nvidia and as far as I recall since they have stated that they are looking to incorporate the API in their graphics cards it seems that a dedicated PPU of this sort has a limited shelf life.

With the greater support from Nvidia then PhysX of one form or another might take off further in future but take up thus far hasn't been tremendously encouraging. Put it this way I certainly wouldn't be rushing to buy one at the moment.

I have one but unless you’re an ATI user there’s not much point in getting one. You may as well wait till the Nvidia GPU supports it and there is more game support.
 
Why's that? If you have ATI over Nvidia I mean :)

Thing is, if Nvidia incorporate it into they're chip...As in physically, wont they cost more theoretically? Unless they release two cards of the kind at every release...One with and one without the Ageia chip, but that would just be stupid.

They're not incorporating a separate chip just for physics.. they're doing physics on the gpu. Google "CUDA" for more info :)
