Think I'm in love, Boxster RS60 Spyder

one of these is around £45k, you could have a nice 996 911 for that =(

To make matters worst, 45K will get you into a poverty 997 these days, hell, even a c2s. Had I the 45K budget that is probably what I'd do...

I've seen a few people bottle the spec on these Spyders now and not have the placenta coloured interior and roof. Real let down imho. With only 1960 being produced, they should all have the distinctive colour.

Skidd.

Poverty spec :(

I'd crawl across glowing coals just to lick a pebble out of it's tread. Best sounding hyper, road-legal car as well.

I was lucky enough to see one at the Porsche dealership in Hatfield. Clearly I was there to drool at all there offerings, not to buy sadly but it was an incredible looking machine.

Hmmmm... Boxters just don't do it for me. Somebody posted about the biggeer hips on the Cayman and those are just what I like.

No idea how the Boxter drives - all reports say it's fabulous - but it doesn't look the part in my eyes.

But then, I drive a VW Polo. And it's a diesel. And it's about to have a kiddy-seat welded to the back bench.

Yes, as has been proven the boxter is a fantastic car but for some reason i just cant help but disslike it. I guess its just a testosterone fuelled disslike as i find it is a very girly car. Dont get me wrong they aint slow and they handle, but every time i see one i cant help but think it is a total WAGS car.

Boxters Suck

Not becuase they are a poor mans 911. My cousins had one. These are the same guys who owned 2 Elises, a chipped MR2 and a Ferrari 355. They got so fed up with the 911 costs of running and maintaining to have what is frankly not 911 performance, they sold it, and bought a Renault Megan and build 2 houses instead...

Edit: They did say it drove like a dream though!

absolutely stunning, this car is probably the best looking porsche ever made, never seen one in the flesh though, im sure it looks even better, the alloys and the brakes look sexy too

Boxster_S is one of the nicest cars I've driven. Had one round Bruntingthorpe and it handled very well. I honestly can't imagine why people keep comparing them with 911's as they are leagues apart and hardly a reasonable comparison.

I agree with a couple of the comments above, the styling is very girly though.

real men drive 911. i thought everyone knew that?

Seriously Boxter for rich housewifes. If you asked Porsche who they designed the boxter for, and what target market they are specifically looking at attacking with it, its probably similar to a Merc SLK buyer. Ask yourself, how many guys do u see driving SLK's?

If you ask Porsche they will tell you for poeple who want to spend £35K - £50K on a sports car. The vast majority of Boxsters I bought by men.

Nobody ever seems to have an old banger these days, its always a 'project' or a 'runabout'.

You do realise it's a project just to keep this old bangers running yes? :o

Looks quite nice but a lot of money for the performance it gives you, which ultimately is why you buy a car like that. I've never subscribed to the 'poor mans' porsche way of thinking. Just a lot of money which ever way you look at it.

However, I'll stick to my 14 year old shed.

hmmm i dont like it, if it was a hard top i may think different. something about soft top porsche i dont like (excluding carrera GT)

Pretty sure that any petrol head worth their salt would see any of the above as prestigious...

Oh naturally. They make rare and great engineered cars you can lust over, no doubt. But the Porsche badge isn't as rare as it once was. I see the 911, Boxster, Cayenne and the odd GT2 quite often, whereas seeing any Porsche say 10 years ago was something you talked to your like-minded friends about.

It's all about business and making money though, and they need lower priced cars to extend their market. I'd have a Boxster S if I was in that financial position. They're gorgeous looking and very capable making them a bit more special than buying an S2000 which are more common and not as cool as owning a Porsche, if that matters to some people.
