Changing from gold membership to silver on XBOXlive - how?

I buy cards as well, both for Live and Points.

I haven't bought anything off PSN because of the lack of cards, I'd say MS and Sony are probably the last two companies I want to give my CC details to.

From the little I have used the PSN store, the purchases I have used seem fine... and pretty sure its easy to remove the details (not tried though, so don't quote me on that).

But yeah, points and subscription cards F.T.W.

Really cant see the issue myself.
Like any contract you want to cancel you have to get through the sales retention staff before you escape.
Hardly a big deal.

Its not a big deal, but an annoyance. Why can you sign up online, change all payment structure, but can't cancel.

You can't tell me that it wouldn't be easier for people if they gave you the option? No service is perfect, from any company (not just talking about consoles here). We are just stating that it would be better if they offered you the option.

True...

I would consider that you aren't really getting in to a proper contract with XBOX Live, especially the monthly one. Cell phones and stuff you are...

Even WOW can be cancelled easily online.

anyway just read the terms and conditions
and states to cancel you must phone them to do so
so perhaps those who find it hard to use a phone should not join xbox live if they plan on cancelling it at any point
then again i doubt anyone actually reads what they are signing up to

For the record, I haven't canceled.

And what you are saying makes zero sense. THats like saying that if you join up to anything, you shouldn't because at some point you MAY wish to cancel?

And just because it states something in the t and c, what does that mean ?? it simply states that you have to do it, that doesn't mean its anything less annoying.

Bottom line is, its not a proper contract (I go for the yearly card personally) but those that pay every month can cancel when they want. Most MMORPF's and other online services allow you to cancel whenever you want online.

I don't understand why you are defending it? its not like I am saying "OMG! MS are evil! they make you call them!!!!!" I am simply stating, that since you can do everything else via the dash, and as it is pretty normal for video games to allow you to cancel without calling, there is little reason they can't do it.

I had to get my mum (:D) to cancel when my 12 month came to end and I got tired of Xbox Live (her credit card). I thought if you used a 12 month code you brought from a shop then you don't need to put in any card details and after the 12 months your back to silver as they can't just charge you again. I might do that when i sign back up for GTA as then I can go for maybe a 3 month from a shop then see how it goes, rather than forget and it signs me up again.

Whining about it isnt going to solve anything, yes its annoying, but thats life. Just phone them up, get it sorted and you will be free from it.

No one was whining, people were just stating that it was annoying... its just other people didn't understand why we felt it was annoying :D

It took me 6 months for microsoft to remove my credit details from my live account :O

The 1st time i rang i was told 3 months, after 3 months i got a confirmation call saying that they were starting the process and then procedded to tell me that it would take 3 months !!!!!

Needless to say M$ shall never be getting my CC Details ever again

You don't if you get points cards, it automatically reverts to Silver. If you use a credit card you do as you're signed onto a rolling contract.

People make a mountain out of a molehill. You'd be expected to phone your mobile phone network provider for the exact same thing. As I said, it's really not that unusual.

No people dont make mountains out of molehills, you are just so sucked in by microsoft you cant even admit to one tiny little flaw in their perfect little service. You are like a broken record with your microsoft arse kissing, give it a rest for once.

What about if the kid decides to buy every game on arcade if i'm out? They let that happen easily.

That too - not a great idea huh?

dont like it? dont accept those terms and do something else instead
