Is the Q9450 really in stock on the 10th?

wait for nehalem, yorkfield is just a non starter at those prices unless you start seeing pigs in the sky with 600FSB motherboards attached to them.

It's going to be the best part of a year before Nehalem becomes an option.

And that's going to need a motherboard and memory upgrade too.

yep that's all true, but it doesn't make yorkfields anymore appealing at their current price with the current batch of boards available...just my opinion of course.

More appealing than the £370 that the first batch of Q6600's were going for last April.

Pfft they wont leach money out of me not that much of a sucker, I'll wait a few months & get the best competitive price!

Why would anyone who has a Q6600 want to upgrade to Q9450 anyway? I am going for Q9450 as I wanted the latest architecture cpu as I am currently running a P4 3 Ghz Northwood.

Why not? it's something new to try - it runs cooler - less stress on the PWM's, clock for clock runs faster, I'll sell my Q6600 while it holds a reasonable price.

By the time I get one, I expect the price to be around £200 in June, DDR3 will cost even less & P45 chipset will be due for release.

Happens everytime a new CPU is released crazy prices - I remember paying over £500 for an FX-53 over 4 years ago, would be lucky to get £40 for it now, needless to say I've learnt my lesson. :)

i bet second wave will be like 40£ more expensive as you can get some q9450 but you if you had the preordered like ages ago

standard retailer behaviour, not restricted to OCUK by any stretch.

look at the EEE PC's ...high demand low supply higher than rrp almost everywhere.

Not at all. Ordinary online retailers who aren't interested in selling to 'performance' customers are selling the Q9450 right now online for £50 less.

ocuk are amongst the worst for doing it but they aren't alone is all i am saying.

do these other retailers have stock though?

How about receiving retail stock, then whipping out the bare chips to turn in to new hilariously priced OEM item rather than sending out the retail pre-orders?
