Girl Born with Two Faces

why are these abnormal babies constantly indian? is there some mass incest thing going on over there or just coincidence?

last time it was the girl with multiple limbs now this

Unless India is one big Union Carbide factory (see what I did there?), I would assume some sort of "inbreeding" was a contributing factor.

But don't forget, India has a relatively huge population too. Such occurances are far more likely there than most other places. Also, as already pointed out, the opportunity to check for the well being of the foetus and to ability to terminate a pregnancy is probably highly reduced.

I know a nurse who apparently delivered / aborted a baby which consisted of a mush of flesh, eyes, hair and bone, here in the UK. Its not impossible.

Yes, yes it is. They bathe in it, do everything in it, even the ashes of their dead are scattered in it. So it's not really surprising at the end of the day.

And not to get into a religion bashing mode, but why is it that the minute a deformed child is born then it's a "gift from god" and "he/she was meant to be that way"? Why can they not just accept that it's a birth defect due to some complications or whatever? And the family are largely illiterate, yet they still know all their religious teachings? Is being able to read and write not more important? :confused:

Sorry, this kind of thing just winds me up a bit :)

Not surprising at all. If you watch the news over there you will see bizarre things on it everyday.

The above post reminded me about a news report regarding some 'sugary water'. Lots of people were going to this sweet spot in a river and drinking the water thinking it was something awesome. But in fact the water had some weird chemicals in it that made it taste sugary. The experts were saying it was harmful to drink it!

I think its fair to assume that clv101 (and myself included) was (were?) not interpreting such toxic material as under 'hygiene'. But yes you are quite correct.

Abnormal babies doesn't always imply inbreeding, despite how fascinating such cases are.

As others have already pointed out, India isn't exactly the cleanest place on Earth and despite its rapid growth, when you enter the poorer areas the conditions are pretty abysmal.

But considering that the entire population would most likely be suffering if the mutagenic content of water etc was high, you can't really rule out "incest" either.

This is all speculation. It could be one or the other, or perhaps a combination of both, we don't know.
