I really cant decide between the two drives. Which is faster and which is quieter?

Not to keen on samsung. The 750GB is VERY cheap however, just I would have no peace of mind with it.

I ordered the WD640 last week got delivered on friday and it was doa so ocuk arranged for it to be collected today for a refund, Then im going to order the seagate 320gb.

Hopefully that was just an unlucky one. There are a few people on here with reported working ones though. I want 2 for RAID 1 (windows/apps/games/storage).

Just been and got my seagate 320 7200.11 from ocuk and im pleased to say its silent

Will get a screenshot of hdd tach up asap

I should get my new drives tomorrow but I cant do F.A with them till thursday as I had to buy vista business else where. Another thing ocuk dont stock are power leads (kettle plugs) - whats up with that!!? lol

WD all day long, faster and can enable TLER for hardware raid too.

That's rather quick! I've seen 15000RPM drives slower than that. My WD500 can only manage 70 odd.

Run the benchmark, then in the bottom left iirc, is a compare button.
This allows you to compare with saved data from previous benchmarks.

Just swapped my Seagate 7200.10 for one of these puppies.

First impressions are that it's fast - Vista boots with four cycles of the loading bar where it previously took six, and iTunes, Photoshop etc. load considerably faster. It's also more pleasant to listen to - it's probably about the same as the Seagate in terms of noise level, but the noise profile is easier on the ear - the seeking is a much higher-pitched noise where the Seagate was more of a guttural grinding sound.

And I finally got 5.9 in the Windows Experience Index
