new rig new games

the q6600 is a really good cpu but are you using the x1950 in your sig? Thats going to hold it back quite a lot. I finished bioshock on an x1950pro @ 1290x1024 and it just gets away with it but is quite slow in places

true... but my x1950 seems to be doing the job atm (i only really run games at 1024 x 768 dont really notice much diff) iv tryed a few games running at 1280 x 1024 with everything maxed and it copes well :) so itll be a while before i upgrade that + i think i would need the corsair 520w psu for an 8800 :(

Back to games;
ill have a look at TF2 (is that one of the 'orange box' games??) and how much is it now?
does any1 know if that 'Fuel of war' is any good?

also is CS:S still worth getting? its been out for a while now so its a 'bit' old :) i wanted to buy it ages ago but could never seem to find it in shops then i pretty much gave up.
I know its still quite a populated game.... its just seem 'insulting' to my new spec LOL

Its almost a pity you have the new rig prior to buying COD4, having played COD4 to death on my old relic (A64 3000+, 2.5GB DDR400 7600GS) the difference when I saw it running for the first time @ High / Max settings on my mates 8800GTX SLI rig was simply stunning in every respect.:cool:

I kept getting killed on line as I was too busy checking out the reflections in my gun scope for example, rather than concentrating on thet Raghead with an AK-47 pointed at me! :o:D

Shame the MP in COD4 is so limited (imo), not to worry, I think the single player experience more than makes up for it.

:)

good suggestions.

id get battlefield 2 ( a bit old but still one of the best)

team fortress 2 and cod4 (need i say more ?)

and counter strike source (good solid game ive had it since launch and have played it since...you always seem to come back to it)

rts wise give company of heroes a whirl . its not as hardcore as some rts games but its great none the less.

i found the SP experience of CoD4 too short... way too short... and it lacked the desperate 'survive or die' passion of the previous titles in the series...

it wasnt too bad. sure it could be longer but its not like any of the levels bored me infact, i thought it was a good experience if you dont play for hours in one go and then complain or something. also recommend putting it on at least hard on first try.

mp though has kept me busy since xmas :D
