Funny you chose those screens of Crysis. If there was one thing I did not like about Crysis - it was the alien bit (second half of the game).

Typical, i just received the game and the damn thing wont install. Some error with Data4.cab or something. Ive had a search and it looks like people were even having this problem with the leaked version. Maybe its the installation problem IGN reported with Vista 32bit ? Im stumped for what to do (i tried copying the files onto the hard drive but Data4.cab wudnt budge).

Sounds like a dodgy CD if you can't even manually copy the files.

I played an early version of it that was bugged (couldnt enter jerusalem) the stealth isn't amazing, it's a bit like MGS (i.e guard see's you, chases you, loses you and his memory like a goldfish ensures he does nothing about it afterwards). I actually quite like the combat, obviously blocking/counter attacking everything gets dull, so spice it up, use the dagger or something(which is pants at blocking swords) the game is what you make of it.

The missions were my only dissapointment not only are they repetitive but the assasination in each city is stupidly easy (2 minute reccy of how to get in the place, get in, walk upto the main guy (who's entire entourage let you past) stab him and listen to the LONGEST DEATH SPEECH EVER! (totally unmolested by the considerate guards who wait for the speech before giving chase)

For £20 i'll buy it

Looks like a load of other ppl have the same problem on the Ubi forums (i made a post) seems to be something with dual layer malark :/.

yea, ive tried updating firmware on my DVD drive, thats done nothing to help though :(

ah well....ill go into work tomorow and take my DVD drive with me and just swap it with one of the brand new SATA ones we just got :p no chance im paying for a new drive for one game

Well a lot of things came today. new monitor, colour calibration tool, assassins creed!

Got my pre-order earlier today.

Installed perfectly for me.

Looks a lot better than the 360 version I have although there are a few strange issues with the gfx. Even with max details and x16AA there are jagged edges to some of the background gfx + altair whenever you get a filter on screen to provide smoke/mist/fog or cutscene. These are present regardless of gfx settings.

I suspect that the 360 had them as well but because it was using graphical tricks to hide them to keep the FPS up you never noticed.

FPS on this version under DX9 is very smooth and feels a lot better to play than the 360 as that stuttered badly in places. Loading times are very quick. Controls I have only used my 360 gamepad and that is more or less the same control scheme as the 360 except the triggers are used differently, you can change all the controls anyway and there are quite a few gfx settings to alter as well as other game settings. Something like 20 odd things which the 360 version never had you can customise. Save games are still the same console style auto checkpoints though.

It's very very easy to lay with mouse and KB, in fact I'd go as far to say it's better with mouse and keyboard!

My bro had it preordered and it came this morning and my bro poped over and he let me play on it before he took it back over to his. Its not as bad as i thought i think i might get it.

What colour calibration tool do you have ?

Was looking into one of them myself.

Spyder2Express, 3 step process, easy as that!

1: Set your monitor to use no colour profile (ie: uninstall the monitor driver and let windows see it as a generic PnP monitor)

2: install the spyder software

3: run the spyder software :D

Hmm i'm finding hardly any graphics options on mine, plus multisampling is greyed out and stuck at 1 :/

Have held off getting the 360 version as have heard its rather dull and not worth more than a rental, so am looking forward to gettting peoples opinions on this.

Though it will be hard gaming in my chair rather than my bean bag.... :D
