It does look good but it can't compete with that.
Typical, i just received the game and the damn thing wont install. Some error with Data4.cab or something. Ive had a search and it looks like people were even having this problem with the leaked version. Maybe its the installation problem IGN reported with Vista 32bit ? Im stumped for what to do (i tried copying the files onto the hard drive but Data4.cab wudnt budge).

Beautiful Screens!, do you use keyboard or a 360 controller ?
Well a lot of things came today. new monitor, colour calibration tool, assassins creed!
What colour calibration tool do you have ?
Was looking into one of them myself.
Got my pre-order earlier today.
Installed perfectly for me.
Looks a lot better than the 360 version I have although there are a few strange issues with the gfx. Even with max details and x16AA there are jagged edges to some of the background gfx + altair whenever you get a filter on screen to provide smoke/mist/fog or cutscene. These are present regardless of gfx settings.
I suspect that the 360 had them as well but because it was using graphical tricks to hide them to keep the FPS up you never noticed.
FPS on this version under DX9 is very smooth and feels a lot better to play than the 360 as that stuttered badly in places. Loading times are very quick. Controls I have only used my 360 gamepad and that is more or less the same control scheme as the 360 except the triggers are used differently, you can change all the controls anyway and there are quite a few gfx settings to alter as well as other game settings. Something like 20 odd things which the 360 version never had you can customise. Save games are still the same console style auto checkpoints though.
