I've got a bit of a dilemma about 20" / 22"

Okay, here's my space restriction:

520mm / 22 inches wide
510mm /20 inches high

That's the abbsolute size I can reach! Now i've looked at 20" monitors they're small enough to fit in the dimensions above.
I've looked at 22" some can fit in the hole above!

I was looking at the Belinea o.display 22" Widescreen LCD Monitor however it doesn't have any user reviews.

I'm looking at £200 and to be honest, will be definately buying tomarrow or tuesday.

What I want is the ability to hook up a Playstation 3 or X-Box 360 too please as well as PC gaming and general surfing.

To give you an idea of how bad things really are, i've never had a TFT monitor, and i'm typing away on a fat ******* 17" CRT monitor that's 8 years old!

Thanks guys!

22" monitors are fine. i don't see why people don't like a 22" with a resolution of 1680x1050, there is no difference (visually) although the monitor is more striking than a 20" at the same resolution.

i have a Dell E228WFP 22" monitor at 1680x1050 and they're no noticeable problems or anything.

I'm no good with monitor shopping, so you'll have to ask someone else for a monitor that will fit to your dimensions, i was just simply defending 22" 1680x1050 monitors :)

Do you know what, i've decided, i'm going to have to go for the 20" monitors. The reason being if I go for the 22" it would be an INCREDIBLY tight fight. If I go for the 20" at least i'll have an inch of space on each side of the monitor.

Problem is what 20" to go for!

just thought. i Highly recommend the Dell range of widescreen monitors, they're great [/fanboy]

the ultrasharp range is especially good, so id recommend getting something like this (bit over budget but worth it)

Bad news! :(

The
Dell Ultrasharp 2007WFP 20" Widescreen LCD Monitor

is out of stock! I webmailed OcUK and they don't know when they'll be getting them in! Which kind of sucks because I want to order today or tomarrow!

Matt1, I don't wish to buy a 2nd hand monitor. It's my first TFT ever so I want to buy brand new for some reason! So 2nd hand are out of the question.

Anymore recommendations?

Ah unlucky, hope it comes into stock soon.

You're first TFT? Oh my...! Don't blame you buying new then. My one has sold now anyway. I'd still highly recommend it though as the screen is superb, but it does have a glossy finish so if you're after a matt one then I think the Dell must be at the top of the pile. Good luck. :)

I just checked a few reviews of the NEC MultiSync LCD20WGX2 and i'm really liking this monitor now!
But for £300! I can buy two 20"ers for that!

Edit: It doesn't have HDCP! :(

I've got a 20" pebble and it's pretty good, It works with my 360 well although there is some backlight bleed on the top/bottom of the screen, it can only be noticed when in a black background (screensaver) and I've yet to notice it on my 360 (through VGA).

The Dell 2007WFP is HDCP compliant over DVI. Pretty much on par with the NEC, with the main difference being the glossy screen on the NEC which produces more vibrant colours apparantly.

I think if you're coming from a CRT then you might be disappointed with the viewing angles on a TN panel TFT. It's probably best to go for an S-IPS based one, which are the Dell and NEC.

I wanted the 2007WFP but can't seem to find it anywhere. OcUK is out of stock and they don't know when they're getting it in. Hopefully looking to order today so I can get it tomarrow.

Edit: Are you refering to this NEC, MultiSync® LCD20WGX2 Pro 20.1?

Edit 2: Totally forgot to mention this. I went out to look at the different sizes and i'm perfectly happy to go for a 19" monitor. So I think i'll go for a 19" widescreen due to:
- Being restricted for space
- 19" Being big enough for me!
