was having great fun this am racing the Gt40 in the dealership race - it was mightily frustrating (because Im such a bad driver and with a six axis controller)
still getting used to quick tune (hope this isnt a replacement for adding parts in the full game) options

Does anyone have any tips for completing the Suzuki Cappuacino 1:39 for Gold race?? It's in Class C
Ridiculous car.. Selling it asap!
I turned traction control off but how are you supposed to accelerate round corners???? If you accelerate you'll go straight into the wall ;S
Also i tried using the car at the start to boost me but it ends up a million miles away from me.

Best iv had is bronze. and im a good way behind gold.
Yeah, I would not bother getting gold as it requires a perfect lap and a slipstream from a faster car at just the right point on the track.

it took me a while but i managed to do the cappaccino race twice now. Firstly on a friends console, but after playing the game i thought it was so good so i went out and brought a ps3 aswell, so i then had to do it on mine.
I found the easiest way was to move in front of the lancia that comes up behind you on the first corner. If you drive a good enough lap you can stay in front of him. Then along the straight for the 2nd lap just slipstream him and the mini that will overtake you, again if you run a good enough lap you can catch up with them on a few corners as they break harder than you need to, then on the final corner you should find that you can get close enough to slipstream them across the finish line. Takes some practice.
Now the m3 timetrial on the otherhand i cannot do, i'm like 5 seconds of the gold medal time!

Yeah, those two are pretty insane, i don't think i will get gold on either of them.
I hear its a lot easier if you use manual, i don't, but from what i have seen, when the car changes down in the majority of slow corners, you can turn in much better, so having the control over that would probably help, not only for those two events but in general.

Just so people know, the time trial ones become much easier if you turn the physics down to standard... i know it feel like cheating but i really think the devs should have set different targets for realistic and standard physics users as cars accelerate faster, have shorter braking distances, are affected less by gravel and grass and get more of a boost from slipstreaming in standard mode.
In fact i would go as far to say that a couple of the challenges are near impossible in advanced physics mode.

Does anyone really understand the effect of the various settings that are available within QuickTune, of does someone have a really good link to an appropriate online resource?
I never really understood all of the settings in GT4, so I'm pretty lost in GT5 and would certainly like to understand more.

It's RWD - you don't accelerate hard around a corner else you'll end up coming out of the corner backwards. Slow down before the corner, then accelerate gently through the first part of the bend - then smoothly apply full throttle as you pass the half way mark, so that as you're about 3/4 of the way around you're at full throttle.
This is obviously simplified quite a lot, but that's the general gist of cornering in RWD cars.
Not just RWD cars but all cars, RWD cars oversteer when applying too much throttle, FWD cars understeer and 4WD cars slide sideways.
The trick to getting a fast laptime is not too drive too fast into the corner, if you download the replays of top times on GT5 you can see that the fastest laps don't look all that fast but just very smooth.
Also press the brake once at just the right time, not too early so you have to release the brake to make the apex and deffo not too late so you have to slow down too much.
Just going through the Delership races and although I have unlocked the "S group" of races in Events, quite a few dealership races are still greyed out (and its not like they are premium cars or anything, one thats greyed out is Citreon!!)
Anyone have any ideas, do I have to complete S before I get to compete these others?
Working backwards (from TVR to Accura, I have completed all dealership races incl Ferrari ...that I can access)
433 around Sazuka was insane - was murdering the leader until one particular (near 90 degree ) corner and kept on coming a cropper in the sand, snatched the lead on the z bend at the end of the last lap

Turns out the one i linked you too is a different to the one i used, i think i used the one posted in here, should be the same thing, if you want it i can just .rar it up from my ps3 for you, but i expect it to be the same bar car colours.
