My dad had a 550w BIG FAN that exploded on him, it melted the end of the power lead in the back!
Oddly it seems they either live forever or destroy everything.

Oddly enough mine is still running fine in an old system. System is not overclocked at all so maybe thats what im doing wrong
I have a QTec in one of my systems that is running perfectly after several years.Its only an old P4 though!
I did swop it out once after reading the horror stories,and got a nice shiney Tagan,which lasted one week before it died,so the QTec went back in,where its lived happily ever after.
I wouldn't buy one now though,or a Tagan.

Well, they may run below their rated power (200W maybe), but try drawing the rated load (550W) and you are pretty much guaranteed some smelly fireworks.
