Several Pirates of the Burning Sea Servers shut down, is this the beginning of the en

Most of the MMOs that came after WOW have be half assed rushed out the door in the hope of big bucks. Be that half their content not ready for release and I me low end content(Vangard). No pvp, lord of the rings? Overly instanced D&D online and even EQ2. The MMO market is just waiting for someone to get it right.

At the moment the only games worth mentioning are WOW, Eve-online and EQ2 all the other are lacking in one way or the other.

I couldn't agree more with you.

Agreed with most of it, I reckon LOTRO should go on your list aswell, although as it couldn't tear me away from WoW I do believe it's a very good game

I'm glad these developers failed. I'm sick of fly by night companies thinking they can knock out these types of games. They didnt even have the foresight to include avatar/land combat from the beginning. Also, MMO's cannot survive on a PvP playerbase/content only, there must be an even greater amount of PvE content because thats what the vast majority of the paying playerbase is PvE'rs, for them to not even realise this doomed them from the start. This is basically Auto Assault 2.

Do you think they were a fly by night company? PotBS was in development for years, and a really long beta testing period from what I can gather, as usual i guess they were guilty of just having to release an unfinished game.

heh SoE, when will they learn.

All they have to do is bring release SWG back online to make a fortune.

I agree with that :)

It's a shame to see a game lose servers so quickly, I never got round to trying PotBS so I can't comment on the game but it's not a good sign for its future.

I'm still holding out for a forgotten realms setting MMO. where Baldurs gate, neverwinter nights, icewind dale all get their setting from.

Currently play LOTRO though and loving it

Its been in development since 2003. Just highlights the massive problem pc gaming has. A successful game needs lots of cash and time to develop, then a player base to support it.

They hyped it beyond the developers ability to provide what they promised. Simple as that. I followed their forum got a bit caught up... had a go at their beta and could have told them right there it would fail if released in that condition with that content.
