Hi

Total cost is £1,222 - a fair bit of cash but my last build was about 3-4 years ago with minor upgrades

here goes with some questions later.....

Microsoft Windows Vista Home Premium 64-Bit Edition DVD - OEM - 1Pk (66I-01939)
- OCZ StealthXStream 600w Silent SLI Ready ATX2 Power Supply
- Sony Floppy Drive - Black
- LG GGC-H20L Blu-Ray Reader & HD-DVD ROM Serial ATA Drive - Retail
- Samsung SpinPoint F1 750GB SATA-II 32MB Cache - OEM (HD753LJ)
- OcUK GeForce 8800 GTX 768MB GDDR3 HDTV/Dual DVI (PCI-Express) - OEM
- OCZ 4GB (2x2GB) PC2-6400C4 800MHz Reaper HPC Enhanced Bandwidth Edition Dual Channel DDR2 (OCZ2RPR800C44GK)
- Abit IP35 Pro (Socket 775) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard
- Tuniq Tower 120-LFB CPU Cooler (Socket 478/754/939/940/AM2/LGA775)
- Intel Core 2 Quad Pro Q6600 "Energy Efficient SLACR 95W Edition" 2.40GHz (1066FSB) - OEM
- Coolermaster RC-1100 Cosmos S "Sport" Silent Full Tower Case
- Saitek Eclipse 2 Illuminated Keyboard - Blue/Red/Purple

Questions:

Is the power supply good enough - OC are out of stock on their larger PSU?
Is VISTA premium a good choice?

Thanks for any help as I haven't really been keeping up to date with most changes in the PC world

good choice of MB if you are not planning to use SLi or Crossfire with very high end ATi cards, the 2nd pcie 16X slot is slower then the first so there is a possible drop in performance when using that slot.

that PSU should run the PC without a problem.

system looks fine

Good choice of RAM.

The PSU is more than enough you don't really need anything more unless you're running sli or crossfire. Although I'd go for Corsair equivalent (HX520/620 is good) if you have the budget.

Home Premium is all you need, but go for the retail version if you intend to upgrade your pc or transfer the license to another pc.

personally, i'd just get a dvdrw drive for now (cheap as chips)
maybe drop to an 8800gt
drop the floppy!
keyboard looks tacky (imo)

i've got the same cpu and ram (although I bought 8gb from ocuk)

It doesn look the best but it's a nice cheap option (not so much after delivery) that is invaluable for gaming in total darkness :)

Hi

Good point about the floppy - you're right they're fairly redundant these days. I was using the OC PC builder so went for the keyboard on offer there but I'll look at the others and order separately

Cheers
