Is Dubai cheap for luxury goods? I'm looking at an Omega watch with the potential of my brother buying it and posting it to me.

One thing to note is that according to the Omega boutique in central London prices are due to rise 7 to 10% across the range due at the start of May to the weakness of the pound.

Just buy an 80 quid watch from a jewelers and spend the rest on your other half (should you have one) or a holiday?

Eiether way, i wouldn't trust the postage, I certainly wouldn't post over a thousand worth of goods accross the world with the risk it might get lost, might be fake, might break in the post. or the warranty may not be valid?

Joy to our country

No the moment it's a great time to buy in the UK compared to elsewhere in Europe because of this weakness. I picked up a new Planet Ocean this week in London and it was 10% cheaper than I could find it in either Zurich or Paris and that's direct from Omega not from online.

I understand that but just the whole concept of a watch being worth the same amount as a car!

Err no if I based it on that I'd be getting something a lot nicer. Just a little something from the proceeds of a car sale etc.

The rest of the cash will get banked.

You can get a car for £1500 - the same price as the watch you posted..that is all i am saying! :p

Indeed you can...

I've seen watches for £30k+

Pay your money take your choice as they say..

I wonder what the average is people spend on watches?

How much was that in percentage terms?

I used to like Breitling and now don't like the new designs. Whatever it is it must be titanium.

Either way I'll wait to see what my brother says.
