Road rage.. who gets it?

The thing that annoys me is when people are in the wrong, you beep to avoid an accident and they swear at you?

What is that all about? I can't see the point in road rage someone is always guaranteed to tick you off.

Aye thats the same for me!! When you're in the right and they are the ones giving you all the stick.

I don't get as wound up as I used too of late, the stupidity and thoughtlessness of some drivers gets me fuming though.
I'd never initiate and road rage related violence, but I do keep a dirty great breaker bar in the rear passenger floor for the times others don't have any restraint.

I never used to really, but driving around Brighton really does bring out the worst in me :(

doesnt help with the high amount of traffic, old drivers, lanes that merge and split often, traffic lights that seem to be programmed to stop you at every set (terrible along the seafront), awful road conditions and the fact that *most* roads are single carriagway and full of people doing 30-40mph :(

ended up in jail because i got a tad angry at someone who tried to run my wife off the road with kids in the car,

she was driving, i was passenger, pleb came across 2 lanes and nearly sideswiped her on a slip road) wifey beeped horn and flashed lights pillock carved in front of her and brake tested her,

pulled up at next set of lights and the red mist descended, I ended up out the car and inflicting much pain on said nugget,

Result arrested and a london road breakfast for my troubles along with a nice little appearance in court ended up thanks to a good lawyer only getting a 500 quid fine, but I would quite happily have killed the other driver if people hadn't intervened

BUT other than that i drive nigh on 100k miles a year and road rage doesn't get a look in, although i fear it would be different if someone were to endanger my loved ones again

twas a incredible hulk moment,

the normally placid and calm taxi driver foxtrot 26 went a bit green and angry, and tbh i doubt there isnt a father out there who would't react the same way if someone endangered their wife and children with their malice

I'm sure he will think twice next time before driving like a retard. :)

I don't get physical with other drivers, but I would say I suffer road anger.
It makes me angry just thinking about it so I will leave it there.

I would have said the same, i always joke things off, amazing how stupid some people can act sometimes!

But literally last monday was the first time i've ever experienced road rage, got stuck behind a lorry as it came off the M6 onto the A74 (i think it is) this is a long road into Edinburgh, about 30 miles, it was dark and conditions weren't great for visibility far far ahead (not unusual for scotland!) my car was very heavy laden (moving things back and fourth but this lorry was taking the road albeit the fastest it could at a very slow pace! But i didn't ahve the grunt at all to overtake a long lorry on a winding dark road in bad visibility, i just wish right at the start he'd pulled in. Normally speeding/overtaking don't save you that much time, but i could have happily drove 60 round most of the road, instead i toped 40 at best, probably averaging 30! :( Wanted him to die by the time i'd finished the stretch of road :D

i get carved up regularly when i'm working(taxi driving pleb) but it doesnt bother me peoples innatentivness and silly mistakes are easily accepted, the idiot that i ended up in jail for deliberatly tried to harm my family, he was lucky that it was just fists, if i had been a tad less angry i may have thought about taking the wheel brace out the boot.

You do realise that he is only allowed to go at 40 by law ?

There is NEVER an excuse for physical violence apart from in self-defence. Retaliation for even the most dangerous driving should NOT become physical. If you want to get angry in your car then fair enough.

I have been the victim of needless roadrage when I made an error, I didn't notice the lights changing and slammed on the brakes a bit late, I did not hit the guy in front but it was close.

The guy in front got out of his car and came towards me, I lowered the window and began apologising. He asked if I was sorry? I said yes. He said this wasn't good enough and began to punch me in the face whilst I held my hands in the air and continued to say sorry. After 5 or 6 punches, I stopped saying anything and waited for him to finish, about 10-15 punches later he got tired and went back to his own car, kicking mine on the way.

Physically, it didn't hurt that much. And i'm over it now, but this was an invasion of my personal liberty's and if i'd have remembered more of his registration plate he would have had the full fury of the law on him.

Foxtrot, admittedly your situation sounds more serious in that this guy was generally being particularly obnoxious on purpose, but people jump to conclusions too easy and get irate over what may be genuine mistakes.

I suffer from Rage but mine is not confined to Roads, I get keyboard rage, pavement rage, PC brigade rage, early morning rage, mid day just woke up in armchair rage, knock on my front door without ringing me first rage, tread on my dog rage, no milk for Tea rage, ring my house phone without knowing me personally rage, etc rage etc rage etc rage etc

I am driving from the Midlands to Essex & back again tomorrow in my Vit STAY THE **** AWAY FROM ME !!!!! :D

Seriously though I only get Rage driving certain motors, In my Vit i am proper chilled as i am just cruising along & know there is no point in trying to get a hustle on. In fast cars though i am a bit lairy, Basically get that Normally aspirated **** **** out my way sort of thing. I am also a bit lairy in a Transit & always get involved in a Tranny race (One for the quoters)
There is a demented routine i go through where i thrash the living **** out of a Tranny flat footing it everywhere kicking the back out at any chance & scaring motorists trying to pass me by drifting a Tranny towards them :D
All the time i do it i scream at the top of my voice TRANNNNNNNNYYYY RAAAAAAAAAACCCCIIIIIINNNNGGGGGGGG :p:p:p

This may or may not be true :D

Actually come to think about it, talking about physical violence, i never did get violent in the car, just very annoyed and thought the driver in front was a total twonk, this normally wouldn't wind me up but i think it cracked me 20 miles in :D Not sure how road-rage-ish it was thinking about it...

So far it's been nothing more than finger gesturing and swearing, although it takes me a bit to lose my temper when I do it's just *snap* and the red mist starts coming out in all directions. :o

I've watched from the back of a car as a friend squared up to a dangerous driver though - that was a bit scary as they were both big fellas. Luckily they both backed down and that was that.

The closest I come to "road rage" is at work - I can't stand people who can't park properly, or can't drive safely around petrol pumps. I've lost it and pinned someone up against their car before when he parked in front of the lorry dropping off it's delivery () and then refused to move when I asked nicely, instead choosing to swear at me repeatedly.
He soon moved on.

ive only ever had proper road rage once, because some **** nearly killed me. When i had the courtesy 320D, i was making decent progress along the NSl road that leads up to my house, when i came across a group of 3 cars pootling along at about 35. The guy at the back backed off a fair bit when i got behind them, I assumed being a courteus gent and letting a guy who wanted to make progress have a decent amount of room to do a 1 car at a time overtake.

Went to overtake him on a mid length straight, and just as i got my rear doors to his fronts, he dropped a cog and booted it. Now, in the mondeo i wouldve been well past him and back in, but with the lack of pace it made it EXTREMELY close call to the upcoming corner as i squeezed back in infront of him.....he then had the cheek to get right up my bumper swearing at me so i just lost it :( slammed on and narrowly avoided a bumper ornament and got out to give him an earful on how ridiculously dangerous it is to try and stop someone from doing a legit overtake by accelerating as they are side by side with you, ended up a massive heated arguement half way up an NSL mountain road lol. Ah well, no skin was exchanged in the end, but i was ****** furious.

Tom.

im not surprised that he got frustrated with you, people overtaking "one car" at a time by pushing through the pack is rude and arrogant, dangerous also if ifs a B road. always amazes me why people do this as they dont progress that far down the pack.

Still though, he sounds like a NO SWEARING from speeding up, but from hes point of view, he thought you were a arrogant muppet :)
