Buying an iphone tommorow...

Even if you put it back to factory settings I know that Apple will refuse you the warranty, not sure on CPW or o2 as basically there gonna want a number off you to see if you have registered on the 02 contract. If you havn't registered they will know its been jailbrocken/unlocked etc. You may get lucky with CPW or 02 but don't count on it. As when you take the phone in it won't have been activated etc and you will only get the Itunes thing up and if it is say a problem with your sound, there gonna ask how did you find that out if you have not activated it on an 02 contract....

Does bootneuter work ok? I heard that once people used Ziphone they couldnt go back to BL 4.6?
I used ZiPhone to unlock/activate/jailbreak (it downgrades to 3.9 bootloader) and today I installed Boot Neuter and flashed back to the 4.6 bootloader. It's very easy to do but obviously you should know what you're doing so best to read all about it first.

Just a thought, does downgrading the BL in anyway slow the iPhone down? I.e. does it feel sluggish at all using 3.9 compared to 4.6?

Ok how about this - if I do the iliberty thing on a friends mac, will I be able to restore it if it ever goes wrong on my computer?

If you can answer this quick it would be great, because im going in 10 mins!! :D

If you are using a mac use the pwnage tool. And yes, you can restore it back to defaults on a windows machine with itunes.

So itunes has a "restore iphone back to default" feature from the get go without backing up your iphone on said pc?

And why would I use pwnage tool over iliberty? :)

I'm sorely tempted to get one of these now they're cheaper and so easy to jailbreak/unlock. I don't even need one though, that's the problem!

It's more future proof (and already supports the 2.0 betas), so you may as well get used to it now :)

If you are a complete geek you can also have custom boot and restore screens too ;)

The all do effectively the same thing though, so just use whatever you are comfortable with.. any of them are a piece of cake to use and take a matter of minutes straight from the box. It's so quick you could probably take your laptop into the store and do it at the counter and walk out with a working phone with your old SIM in ;)

And yes, you boot the phone into restore mode, connect it to a PC or Mac with iTunes and you get the option to restore to 1.1.4.

Nice one beefcake, +1 hug for you :D

One more question, and ill buy my iphone!!! EXCCCCCCCCCCCCITED!!!!

If i use iliberty, restore it to 1.1.4 with itunes - can I use pwnage tools at a later date?

Thanks man :D

You can flash, fart with the bootloader and restore with various apps until you are blue in the face if it so takes you fancy :)

Even if you somehow manage to completely screw it so it won't boot (a mate managed it messing around with 2.0 :)) there are tools that get you going again pretty easily. You'd really have to go some to screw it up..

.. now there's tempting fate ;)

Got mine form CPW, all I had to do was fill out the payment details and the direct debit not that they are going to use the DD, the phone arrived the next day - all they are interested in is selling the phone :D

Online or in store? I wouldn't have filled in any direct debit details, or signed anything that remotely looked like a direct debit or contract :)

Ah really? But anyone who doesnt sign up for the O2 iPhone contract is forced to use a fake 4.6 or 3.9 BL right? In essence they have no choice.

Pwnage/bootneuter uses 4.6.

I've not heard about wifi being faster in 4.6.. the only things i've heard of are wifi breaking running older hacks on 4.6 and locate me not working in google maps if you downgrade the baseband.
