I think Vista haters are full of poo

It's not, but that's one of the reasons I'm not staying on Vista.. and I suppose many others have moved back to XP because of the lack of support drivers for Vista, at the moment.

I got Vista 64 on its release and haven't looked back. Using XP since?... I can only describe it as that icky feeling as an XP user gets going back to something like 98, it looks pretty similar, everythings in near enough the same place, but its just clunky, unpolished and all of a sudden horrible to use.

It's already been shown that most of the problems with vista have been driver related and most of those are nVidia's fault. Then theres that "well my gamez runz better lolz" arguement, well I distinctly remember when XP came out people saying that about 2000, that XP was bloatware and games run slower than existing versions of windows, you've all changed your tune now.

Vista >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> XP

I still don't understand how an operating system can swallow up 500mb of ram doing nothing.

Cos you don't know that Vista takes up all available ram and stands them by unlike XP who just...... lets it sit there. Read up why it takes up memory sometime.

Personally think vista is awesome, i find the basic theme to be "gash" on vista but aero is nice! I started out using vista on 1gig of ram & loved it, Recently upgraded to 2gig ddr2 & its even better!

So snappy, pretty looking & i do genuinely get on with it. UAC annoyed me to start with but now I'm used to that too.

The only thing i don't like is how many clicks it takes to get to network connections, but i don't go in there often anyways.

Thumbs up from me.

You need to read up on what Vista does with memory, I have 4GB installed and 0MB free because Vista has cached it all so my programs launch faster. Think about it, what's the point of having all that free memory if there is nothing to use it?

where is your vista tribute sig?

Hello valerian, honestly, what is it with you having little digs at me every time you see one of my posts? You may not agree with everything I say and that's fair enough but instead of writing really childish responses as you have done above, maybe actually respond in a more mature manner. Regardless if you think I am a so called "Vista fanboy", I always try and make my posts on topic (Do excuse this one though but it has to be said) constructive as possible and I don't feel the need to resort to extremely childish tactics because I have nothing else to say.

I am guessing that you have had a few problems with Windows Vista judging from some of your responses but it maybe an idea to create a thread explaining the problems that you are experiencing and then maybe someone will be able to help you out. :)

I would also have to agree with the majority of people that have responded to this thread, Windows Vista 64-bit is a fantastic Operating System; I honestly can't fault it at all. :)

I think I got so fed up of all the ignorance I read about Vista I just had to make this thread. I remember when everyone was saying they'll keep using Windows 98 SE. Myself used 98 SE right up until XP came out.

The only OS I haven't liked was XP 64 because I couldn't get wireless drivers anywhere.

To be honest i'm not a hater or lover. for the way i use my computer it's pretty much the same (interenet and gaming mostly, with a bit of photo-editing and letter writing on the side) as XP.

XP pro has been rock soild since SP2 and never had a single problem. Everything works. And i noticed since SP1 Vista has been much better for me. I tried Vista at launch and i had so many problems i rolled back to XP, but i realised now that you can turn off UAC (which was the worse thing MS have put in an OS) and have tried again with the launch of SP1.

I've come to the conclusion that you shouldn't jump to a new operating system stright away and wait a few months while all the niggles are ironed out. Now it seems much more usable. it's slightly slower than XP pro in everyday use but i haven't tweaked it yet apart from turning off restore points.

Just thank god i could turn off UAC!

EDIT - i'm not a mac lover, i just thought this video was funny and expressed my fustration :D

EDIT - I forgot to mention i HATE they way they nuked Defrag on Vista. i'm installing a 3rd party software for that now

I like it.

I prefer Ubuntu, but as windows goes, vista > xp. There are some small annoyances (folders keep thinking they're music folders, 3 UAC prompts to delete a start menu shortcut, ipv6 somtimes just not working), but these aren't critical to my day to day usage :)

I agree! Why oh why did they do that?

As a workaround I've created a shortcut to "ncpa.cpl" on my quick launch tool bar - now, just one click and I'm there!

The best thing since sliced bread though is the start menu inline search feature, it's such a great feature and works so well.

Biggest niggle is changng "add/remove programs" to Programs and Features. Why? Just why?

Minimal problems here. Except the steam one where closing cs:s hl2 etc makes Vista thinks its crashed. Grr.

Been working great for me and a motherboard change went so much easier than under XP.

People just trash talk Vista cause its hip, its funny to hear people who are clueless about computers jump on the bandwagon and come out saying Vista is rubbish and will never go on my machine or I don't want it etc etc. Then when you start to question them its like my brother's friends mechanic pal's grandad's son said it was rubbish...it's like DOOOH!
