****The official GT5 Prologue Thread****

Im really ticked off with GT5P now

I am doing some of the S class rases and I could swear that the AI cars are able to tune differently to how I am

For example - plenty of 630bhp races have Elise/tuned racers, however I just bought one (for 80k no less) and I cant for the life of me de-tune it down to that level - as bought its about 680 and I cant get it below 640

the only things I can find that make any difference to the bhp are :

Power, Weight and Aero

Toe in, Gear ratios etc dont seem to make any difference

Am I missing something which reduces that other 10bhp?

You are decreasing the aero aren't you? It's not the BHP you are necessarily trying to lower, but the cars points value.

I've got the tuned Elise 111R and I'm sure I've got it down to 630 for some of the races. In fact that's the only car I've used in S Class, apart from obviously the one-make races.

I cant drive that Elise. I tweaked the tune, but it seems way too slippery and it doesnt seem to have the speed of the other cars.

Doesn't have the straightline speed, but it easily catches any of the other cars up in the corners with the right setup.

On Daytona I just ramp it upto 200MPH and lose the downforce and put some weight on :p

The patch changed the points allocation, before I could tune the Elise to the max and still be under 680 points, now it hits 680 points much faster.

Biggest thing that helped me with the Elise was to lower front downforce to stop the car oversteering when cornering or lifting off.

Tyres? using sport or normal tyres?

These options where greyed out - but good call :)

Yes I have reduced the aero also :)

111R I couldnt compete with even 10th on the grid

Best result I have is 2nd in an Evo but strangely enough even in 2nd I was still only 3 seconds nearer to the leader as from the start of the race 5 laps previously (ie went down from approx 10 seconds to around 6 or 7s)

It also annoys me that seemingly there is a huge gap between you and the car infront that isnt apparent between any other positions (all the others are a lot closer together)

Am I right in thinking in S class the penalties are a lot stricter - it seems that once you have unlocked S class, penalties are applied for much lesser offenses

Yes, you can even get a penalty when an opponent rams your rear sidepanel when you have overtaken them

Wasting your time mate, you cant use the tuned car, do as you please, if you want to play online after most of them are pretty much useless if you want to play with pro physics because they are all 700 races (or so i have seen)
Wish the pro physics could be used on the slower cars, maybe stock car races etc, the game has so much potential if they just spent a few weeks sorting the online out id never be off it.

I'll be doing some more A class races until i go back to that i think. I started tweaking before races and i've got 1-2 golds more already.

Don't know if i'll ever be able to do any of the 10 minute lap races or the ones were you take over every car in 1 lap.

I'll be damned if I can get gold on the A-3 BMW time trial, think I managed a 1:13.2xx once but even silver is tricky at times...

Having to fight through a full field of cars which crawl around the corners doesn't help matters.

I double checked my elise this evening adn I definitely cant get it down to 630bhp - which is distinctly dodgy imo as they always seem to win the race when I chose anything else

(I even checked the A/B/C - ratios or whatnot right at the top, but that didnt do anything either in regards to lowering bhp)

Weird, I'm positive I did it quite easily in my Elise 111R Tuned and that was after the recent update too.

I'll double check shortly if I get time before I go out.

Edit - yep, it goes down to 630 straight away just by adding some weight and decreasing the power. Didn't even have to touch the aero or any other setting.

Which Elise is it you have exactly?

The standard elise - I can use the 111R, but just found it awkward (and noticed more often than not the standard model was winning the race)

I would have thought the standard one would be easier to get down, but having not used it I'm not sure.

I thought everyone was using the 111R /Tuned for most S Class stuff.

Im just left miles behind in the 111R, used it successfully around London on several occasions, the twisty nature of the track helps - but with the long straights of the Fuji? track I cant seem to get close enough to make the corners (especially in the last 1/3 of the track count for much

True, the other cars will catch up on the straight, but I find I'm MUCH faster than them in the corners, and I can slipstream to gain even more ground.
