BenQ FP241W - Fault?

Had for just under a week - am pleased with the monitor except noticed yesterday that without any reason the screen went black (as of switching off) and then ran normally again.

Did it today whilst on internet - (funnily enough just after I hit 'enter' to Inl Rev web site) and noticed that it did not switch off /on it just went black and then back to normal.

No re-finding signal etc

The back to black only lasts a second .

Anyone any thoughts.

Thought possible Gpu glitch but then realised such was not a problem with the Samsung 205 I had before (although am running at higher res)

Faulty monitor??

before i got my fp241w i read about this somewhere, and some people resolved it by changing the dvi cable that comes with the monitor for a different one. never had this problem with mine. but then i just kept the cable from my old monitor plugged into the vid card then connected the benq to it.
 
could possibly try a new cheapy one, mine is running via the cable that came with my od vx2025, have never even unwrapped the benq cable. cant hurt to try it. good luck.
 
I have 2 of these monitors - 1 about a month old and one about 14 months old.

RMA it. Its a known issue according to Benq support and both of mine are being collected and replaced onsite tomorrow under warranty.
 
I suffered this fault regularly with my FP241WZ and cured it with a cheap dual link cable. Since the swap (three months ago) I haven't experienced any blackouts and would say that it's worth £3 to see if this solution works for you before RMAing the monitor.

It is worth a go, but in my case I am sure I have tried different cables.
 
My monitor (Not a BenQ - But a 24" DVI) also does this. You running Vista by any chance? Read a few notes on problems with Vista/DVI cables/Power Saving modes etc. Everywhere i've read switched to a VGA cable and didn't have the problem. Not that you should have to go back to VGA cables, but hopefully if it's a problem at Vistas end a hotfix is in the works with no need for an RMA.
 
Running XP.

Have ordered a new Dual link cable ; which should arrive tommorrow.

Will then give it a go - I hope it cures it as otherwise monitor seems to be a good 'un

Would just mention that first 205BW suffered in a similar way (except it was much more common and lengthy) - swapped for a different one - no such problem !!
 
I've got the same monitor and the same problem, I RMA'd the first one and the second one does it too. I've never used the bundled cable so don't think that is the problem, be good if it is though, maybe my other cable is junk too. (Didn't show on my old Eizo though.)
 
Major differences between the cable supplied and the one I bought are firstly that it's dual link rather than single link and secondly the cable is sowewhat thicker (better sheilding ?).

It's longer (2m rather than 1m) so is easier to connect etc

Has the problem gone ? TBH I do not know with any certainty.

I have had no episodes with the new cable -as far as I know . So far so good.

But as :-

1) I didn't know I had any problem for the first 3/4 days of ownership.

2) It only occured twice that I saw and I did not see any pattern emerging ;making it difficult to watch for /anticipate.

3) I do not sit in front of the screen all the time it is on and it might/may have done it/do it without my knowledge.

Only thing to do is use as normal and wait and see; which is what I intend to do.Fingers crossed.
 
Mine does it, though maybe 3 times a week and its on constantly......not a major issue for me as its a superb piece of kit, but I can understand other people will get more annoyed at it
 
My house mate has the FP241W and on his pc it doesn't do this, but when we tried it on mine it was loosing signal quite often, like every few minutes at times!

Rather odd as his pc hasn't ever suffered the same problem - could my old dell dvi cable I was using maybe.
 
Mine BenQ does this all the time, especially if I kick the desk by mistake. Cable is well secure, tbh I¬ve just learnt to live with it, but will try new new cable to see if it helps
