Enermax Galaxy 1000W uses 24W when PSU switch is OFF!

well with my spec (see sig) the pc idled around the 250-270W mark. Stressed out - Prime95 and the subsequently trying crysis on max everything, it gets to about 300-325W

Everything there is inline with what I would expect, may have a peak value a bit higher every so often too.

It is just off rating that I do not trust, its way to high!

well my m8s pc is hitting

idle = 200w
load = 360w

specs are..

Q6600 oc @3.6
2x 8800gt
XFX Nforce 680i LT
4gb ddr2 ram
2x hds

well i checked what wattage my psu uses when pc is off

1.7w, soon as i turn of the psu at the back its 0.0w

my eco power meter stats it can read

low as 0.2 Watts
max 3120 Watts

lo Yewen m8 long time no chat :o

gonna try me laptop later see what that uses

3.1 KW?
What spec is your PC? also list the PSU u have, that seems rather high
im guessing thats on full load

lol sorry you miss read me i ment my eco power meter can only read

as low as 0.2 Watts
max 3120 Watts

my pc only uses (80w idle), (110 to 115 load)

I stopped using my UPS for the very same reason.

UPS on computer shutdown, 60 watts usage
UPS turned off with power button nothing connected 55 watts

...err 55 watts and it should be off, i had this thing plugged in for 2 years and the minumum power draw was 55 watts.

The minumum electricity cost of the UPS was £120 for the two years I had it !!

its crazy isn't it. I'm sure 50% of all the electrical equipment that we have in our homes are as guilty as these examples.
Why can't manufactures clock onto the fact that consumer doesn't want to pay 100s of pounds just running their equipment in standby/true-off mode. They are more guilty than the consumers with regards to wasting electricity (and Global warming)

i bought a meter a week ago. I found I was using 120w every night. printer on standby, scanner, plasma, video, hdd, freeview, phone charger, usb port, router, low voltage lamps, phone charger, laptop psu,pc.
worth the £ 16 it cost to find out
my htpc uses 120 watts all day, perhaps its time to switch it off when not using it

crazy again!!!.
If nothing else, people should be concerned about the money they are wasting! I certainly have clocked onto this fact...

That wouldn't make any difference at all.

Just simply unplugging the kettle lead from the psu resulted in the meter reading 0W. Plus the meter only measures power drawn from the socket it has on it.

I was wondering if the little power indicator on your power block was contributing to the reading that's all :)

Just got my meter this morning, some results from my rig.

Q9450 @ 3.4,8800GTS,2 Hardrives,1 Optical,4 120mm Fans,8GB Memory,Corsair HX 620w

Turned Off 2.5w
Idle 150 - 160w
Full Load 237 - 240w
