9900 GT, or GTX in july.. at least according to theinq.

who cares its only a name as long as they are the real next gen cards then it doesn't matter surely, seems to me when people cant moan about them not being fast enough they then try and find another aspect to moan about however lame, just wait for them to come out and if they're crap then you can moan but not before their even out or over their flipping name

Really stupid to call these new GT200's 9 series cards, when the 9 series are already 8800's, wtf are they doing, if they are new tech, then they should be under new numbering, they shouldn't be part of the 8 series, as thats going to cause more confusion, everyone will just see 9900's and think they are the same 8800's again instead of new tech, and why wouldn't they, as thats what the ******* 9 series are already, oh dear, still lets just wait for confirmation.

I think you're trying to have your cake and eat it with that point...

The people who know the 9800s are just 8800s with a few tweaks are EXACTLY the kind of people who will know that the 9900s are "new tech". The people who don't know about that will obviously not know this but it doesn't matter as they think its new already....

Are you possibly trying to say that a person who knows the 9800s are just 8800s WON'T know that the 9900s are genuinely new? If you are, then I think you've taken your nvidia rubbishing one step too far and are coming up with nonsense. People are either intelligent and clued up, or they are not. They don't suddenly become stupid?!!!

Amen to that...

Loadsamoney has finally lost it, in his quest to inform every visitor to the graphics card sub forum of ocuk he has fallen over the edge ;) lol don't worry he'll be eating his words in a few months I'll bet :) but his sleepless nights will continue until he has informed every human being with a remote interest in graphics cards that "A 9800 GTX is actually an 8800 GTS albeit with faster clocks" :p

They should be under new numbering, old tech and new tech cards shouldn't be under the same numbering system, it makes no sense, everyone knows what the 9 series are, they are 8800's on 65nm die's. :)

Makes no sense thart im afraid, so we have the 9 series which everybody knows are old 2006 tech 8800's on smaller dies, and then in July they release yet more of the 9 series cards, only this time everyone knows the 9 series are the new tech, now how is that when the 9 series cards are coming out now, and are old 8800's on smaller dies. :p

yes thats the gist of it. we who know, know. those who dont, still know they are faster. nvidia were pretty silly with the 9800's but the 9900's are as they should be.

I think what I mean was, that people who know the 9800 = 8800 are going to be people who are into computers\graphics cards, these same people will know as it has been explicitly stated that the 9900\GT200 or whatever is genuinely new.

I'm not exactly keeping up to the minute on this stuff but I do know that the stuff coming in july is new and it definately won't be an 8800 = 9800 thing. I'm sure thats where most people are at and they aren't confused they just think its a bit of a cheek what nvidia pulled with the 9800s.

ah well anyways :)

Its just a complete **** up by Nvidia, most people are going to think that the 9900's are just the 9800's again, just on an even smaller die, not totally new tech, which they are.

no they arent, get a hold of yourself. if anybody knows the truth about the 9800's they will KNOW about the 9900's. stop trashing on nvidia because they arent deceiving anybody with these cards.

its actually frustrating reading the same things over and over again daily - you trashing on nvidia for the '2006 tech omg it sucks **** like i can swear **** the stupid ****s. you take it WAY to far and your actually gloating when you have to remind everybody about it.

come on!.

Whats so hard to follow, 9 series cards are out now, they are 8800's on smaller 65nm dies, so their completely new tech cards shouldn't be called the 9 series, as they are not 8800's on smaller dies are they.:)

The truth about the 9800's though, is that they are slower than the old 8800's they are refreshers of, so if they know that already as you say, then god help the 9900's.:p

come on, think about it. you almost had it there.

Right, so the 9900's are not new tech after all, they are the 9800's again, but slower than them.:D

 obviously this is going nowhere. this is why i stay out of graphics these days -crap like this. you know exactly what im saying, you know exactly where the cards are placed performance-wise and you know that the 9900's are going to be faster than the 9800's. the only person who isnt following here, is you.

What crap, you said if anyone knows the truth about the 9800's will know about the 9900's, well the 9800's are 8800's on smaller dies, so what will people see differently about the 9900's.

I have already said, i know the 9900's will be faster performance wise, they should be, but im not on about that, im on about a card that is being called a faster performing 8800, when it isnt even an 8800, its new tech, so why shove it out under old 2006 tech naming, it just doesn't make sense, they should have called the 9800's the 8900's, then the new tech could have been called the 9 series, as now confusion will reign, as we have now got the 9 series old tech cards, and the 9 series, but new tech cards.
