GTA IV Review IGN *SpoilerS!*

IGN probably have their name on a billboard or ten in the game. After they overlooked all of Pro Evo's flaws to have their name in the game and an early review I would rather wait for user views now than anything IGN write.

That video review just looks superb. Its amazing how it doesn't sound like hes overstated it at all.
IGN says "The HUD has been refined, appearing only when Niko is engaged in action"
Not sure I like the sound of that? It isn't only when you are engaged in action that you need to know your health or wanted level etc. I wonder if there is an option to have it on all the time.

You always see your health, wanted level if it's relevant and ammo if you have a weapon drawn.

I find it amazing that IGN gave it 10/10, i would say a 10/10 game should be reserved for something unique, something that does something different and perhaps sets new trends, GTA4 does none of this, its a cut down version of its predecessor, its been made easier to play, it really does offer nothing other than visually being a cut above the last versions.
I am really enjoying it but i have enjoyed other similar games more in the last year (Drakes Fortune, Crackdown). The IGN review does seem to have been caught up in the hype somewhat.

I agree. It's definitely a 9/10 but 10/10 should be something special like RE4, Zelda OoT and CoD4.
I wouldn't say it's all hype but the money generated from having the first review so they want to encourage R* to keep letting them get the first reviews.
It's always relevant in my opinion. If you are low on health you will take more care in crossing the road or getting into trouble etc. as it would be too easy to die.
It is a shame that reviews cannot be automatically taken at face value because of this, though. Reviewers should be independent of developers but I suppose it is naive to think that could ever happen in today's multi-million dollar industry
We'll need to wait for the player reviews to get a proper idea.

I would say COD4 was a 10/10, perfect single player, groundbreaking multiplayer options, overall package.

It's just a visual upgrade of Cod2, it brings nothing new or groundbreaking to the table.

Ground breaking multiplayer option? What would they be? Seriously I can't think of anything not robbed from another game
The single player was no way near perfect, it had a crappy hidden line to stop spawning system which ruined a near perfect single player game for me. No co-op which any shooter should have this days in a squad based game.
Its definately one of the best games I've played but never a 10/10.
Indeed, and I don't know why the developers are so anal about it, getting videos pulled off the net, restricting review dates etc. I wouldn't buy it without knowing more about it first, and what I know so far is very sketchy due to the imposed restrictions.
