petrol prices

maybe things would be different if people actually did protest though instead of just whining about how it wont make any difference on the internet.

You have to drive hundreds of miles just to do anything.

I'd rather pay more and drive less

lol you couldn't be further from the truth! Everything here is much more accessible and more conveniently located than that of England :)
I guess you based your guess on the sheer size of the States?

The truth is i don't really think people mind paying more for fuel providing they thought the money was going somewhere useful.

Instead we have overcrowded roads, filthy hospitals, lousy public transport and millions of benefit scroungers.

Then whenever times get tough we end up with higher fuel costs, more road tax and greater restrictions. It is about time we had a Government that realised that there really isn't much more they can put on motoring costs before they cripple the country.

They insist on raping motorists every chance they get. If they put half the effort into catching these criminals who are raping, killing, people commiting gun-crime, stopping illegal immagrants as they do with motorists then the place might be a better place to live in.

This country makes me sick.

Does anybody know if this is just a spike and they'll drop soon or will they keep going up steadily over time?

I doubt that oil will become cheaper, more likely to rise in price as demand continues to increase.

The chance of the Government reducing duty is zero so we will probably have to get use to higher prices.

Little point in them reducing duty though as if they do they will claw it back somewhere else and who knows how they will do it, likely in ways that you cant get away from. I think when its gets around 1.50-160 a litre we will see certain car values plummet as people try and change to smaller cars, so you will end up with negative equity on your house and car, we are all shafted.

Hope this happens! Just moved ridiculously close to work, so a big beefy V8 might become an attractive purchase!

You can use http://www.petrolprices.com/ to find the cheapest petrol station near you, It's updated allot and all you have to do is register with your email address and confirm.

I managed to find one thats 6p cheaper than the one i was using and it just so happens to be just a little further down the road i go down anyway.

It's like 8 years ago since the last strike. The price back then was 80p a litre....

Quote from WIKI-WIKI

"By 2000, tax accounted for 81.5% of the total cost of unleaded petrol, up from 72.8% in 1993.[1] Fuel prices in the UK had risen from being amongst the cheapest in Europe, to being the most expensive in the same time frame.[1] The protesters said that higher transport costs in the UK were making it difficult for haulage industry to remain competitive.[4] The worldwide price of oil had increased from $10 to $30 a barrel,[5] the highest level in 10 years.[6] Drivers in the UK were now paying an average of 80p a litre for unleaded and 80.8p for diesel.[6] The government had already abandoned the fuel tax escalator in early 2000."

Id give my right bo***ck to pay 80p a litre atm
