I want an XBOX 360 but it scares me :(

Still fantastic consoles with fantastic games Nanoman. If my Xbox360 and PS3 both failed today I'd get replacements straight away, and if they both failed 50 times from now til the end ot their lifespan I'd be picking up an Xbox3 and a PS4 :p.

I know I do mean to keep getting the 360 replaced but its money I don't have! I'm gonna have to buy Gaiden 2 for my housemate so I can play it on his!

I've seen some bargain falcons going matey, I'd recommend picking one of those up and seeing if you can sell your nadgered Xbox360 for £50 or so.

I think the new 360's are a lot more reliable and you arent hearing about loads of failures like the older models so nothing to lose , after trading in my 360 for my ps3 ( which was a mistake really :o ) i have just got a arcade and i already have cables and a spare HDD from my first 360 so i took in a few games and dvd's and ended up with the 360 & halo for 110 notes :D , now which console should i use ??? is it possible to play both at once :p ???

I don't really want an XBOX really, but I was just wondering if there has been any other console as flakey as the 360?

I can't say I'm surprised tho, tho words "Microsoft" and "reliability" are rarely seen together. :D

The PS2 laser issue was probably the next biggest one I remember, I did make some nice pocket money replacing lasers for people.. but even this wasn't on the scale of the RROD...

I for one, have no real beef with MS, the XBox 1 was ultra reliable, their mouse/keyboards last the distance very well, we still have our original optical intellimice in work, etc.. I've had several MS peripherals for the PC, and actually quite rate them quality/reliability wise.

In fact, although I know their OS's have not been the most robust ever, they've seen me through 14 years of software development, and as long as you know what you are doing they serve their purpose very well..

So is the falcon chipset in all 360's on shelfs now?, I mean are they in Arcade, premium and Elite models? and has the noise of the console been reduced? The reason I ask this question is I am still deciding to buy one but how do I make sure it has a Falcon chipset, I imagine walking into a store and asking for a 360 with a falcon chipset I bet they don't even have a clue what I am talking about. No product should ever be put on the market with such failure rate.

I guess that depends where you are... Peel the s/n tag back to reveal the s/n

Also the noise issues have not been sorted out. So no it still sounds like a bag of rattlling nails.

Great, that kind of eases my mind. just read somewhere else dont buy one built before 08 :)

Just being pedantic but from reading loads into this last year, if you get one that was made after August 2007, it will have decent chipset and sorted cooling.

Yea, if you play your games with the volume set to 1 im sure it does.

ahh i bought 1 less than a week ago and it says 203w
...damn purple people

Take it back and ask for a refund, then go buy a falcon.. Otherwise it will come back and bite you in the rump later down the road... Plus you'll be doing your little bit for the enviroment as the falcons use less juice !

I'm lost also.

I thought it was obvious, Anyway... What I meant was Playstation 1 and 2 have so many very bad games mixed in with the good ones which should never of been allowed to see the light of day. This put me off buying a Playstation 3 at first (I do own one now purely for bluray)

Nintendo have very strict quality control for games they release on there console and you never see crappy broken poor quality games. But I do not like the whole being active whilst playing games thing and looking like I am having an epileptic fit.

Hence me settling back then to buy the Xbox360.

I've had my 360 for just over a year - no problems :)

Then so far you are lucky. It can still break down at anytime.

EDIT: Oh right you got one a year ago, and WHAT ARE YOU ON ABOUT, my 2 year old console died and they repaired it free!! its 3 YEARS ! not 1 !!

I think the 3yrs ONLY covers the red ring of death and NOT the E74 error which is what I have got.

Forgive me for not reading the thread - but aren't the new elites more reliable?

I bought a 360 at launch and last August it crashed whilst playing Forza 2. I took it back to Costco and got a full refund.

I then noticed the brand new Samsung 32" R88 for £480 so snapped that up. When I get a full time job I'll be buying an elite ASAP.
