2ltr Engine + Large Turbo = 1130HP

Mmm, the glory days of F1 imo :)

Theres a fantastic book called the 'Race Engine Directory' which covers a large number of the '80s (goes up to 88) race engines in quite some technical detail including F1, endurance (Jag V12, Merc V8 turbo, Porsche 3ltr etc) and Indy which does appear on auction sites from time to time. I haven't managed to track down the sister publication the 1000bhp F1 engines which is totally focused on the late '80s turbos.

The highest boost seen on the BMW engine was 5.5bar absolute which has been estimated to be 1300bhp, they never reached the much quoted 1500bhp. These engines also ran on a specially formulated tolulene based fuel.

The Evo is 1130 at the wheels, so rather more at the flywheel as well.

True, however BMW did it 20 years ago, and with an engine 25% smaller.
