All New Summer 2008 Transfer Merry Go Round/Rumour Mill

Bergkamp was a massive signing especially with Platt joining at the same time.
I was also overjoyed at getting Overmars.

How about Hleb to Inter and Ronaldinho to Arsenal?
Not a bad trade, Ronaldinho with his confidence back would be frightening in a side like Arsenal, and you know he'd jump at the chance to play in the EPL and certainly for Arsenal.

I'd rather not take Ronaldinho, probably cost a lot in fee and wages (supposedly Barca turned down an offer from Milan due to it being too low). He's a bit of a luxury player and I'm not sure would be suited to the Premiership. He's also not getting any younger and is on the way down rather than up, I'd question his hunger and desire for football compared to the attraction of the London nightlife. He's already won the world cup, champions league, La Liga etc so might just want an easy payday.

utd NEED a class striker but i suspect fergie will buy a midfielder ! giggs to retire if he beats sir bobby's record, scholes to oldham :)

utd should let saha go on a free or just terminate his contract, berbatov would be good maybe huntlaar but more than likely will have to settle from campbell coming back from hull and manucho back from greece :(

ahaa, thought it was only a year. bet thats 2 years because fergi always planned to get himself another forward this summer, and didnt want the nuisance of forking out for 2.

He should be getting one, maybe in a role like RvN, more of an out-and-out striker.

Apparantly Fulham still wanting Hyypia and Kewell too.

Yea an out and out striker is needed, I just meant its obviously easier looking for 1 out and out striker than 2 strikers in an already busy market.

Thats good that someones apparently showing interesting in the pair, Hyypia hasnt had a bad season mind, I didnt think he'd do it but the big fin is a legend in my eyes.
Harry who? :( Now.. to find a winger to replace him.

Aye.

Utd have a few good youngsters coming in, and always a backup in Manucho soon enough. Campbell hitting form in the championship too.

Someone like Huntelaar will be good for Utd i recon.

And true about Hyypia, hes had on/offs.

Another bit of fulham news, apparantly Watford want Volz, Lee Cook could be returning to QPR & Super Brian McBride offered a new one-year deal.

...campbell coming back from hull...
Campbell has a lot of potential to be a fantastic player in all honesty. I think he needs another season on loan to fully develop, perhaps at a lower Prem side (perhaps a newly-promoted play-off champion in their first ever top flight season? ;)). But he has fantastic talents already. A good eye for goal, electric pace, a neat bit of trickery and movement when required, and a real eagerness to play. Like I said, he could do with a year of getting used to how Premiership defenders work, without risking a spot in ManU's first team, but otherwise, he's an excellent prospect. If Hull were lucky enough to sign him for less than £4-5m, I don't think too many people round here would complain, and he's still unknown to most of the Prem.

Where was Anderson against Barca? Benched-why? Anderson had a good patch when Scholes was out but has been poor in the last 6 weeks.

Anderson played the games against Lyon (both legs) and Roma (both legs), and also Chelsea. Sorry if he missed the 2 legs you mentioned.

I remember watching him in pre-season and he could do everything bar get a clean contact on shots, but that comes with confidence. He could truly be the real deal as far as kids go.

But if Rossi wasn't good enough.... That's the worry.

Scholes' performances over Barcelona do warrant it and you know I'd be the first to mention it if it wasn't.

SAF was saying it well before the Barca game - thats my point, what happens if he (Scholes) has a shocker on Sunday (which is entirely possible)

a lot have thought Saha would go summer of 2006, then 2007 (not to mention several Jan windows) however it never seems to happen. I wont actually believe it until its actually happened (and I also hope we buy the replacement before we offload Saha as the latter could take all summer even as a freebe)

SAF said earlier in the year that the full price for Tevez was already in place, FC will probably come back to OT and hopefully get some sub appearances before being loaned out middle of next season - as suggested thinks he needs 1/2 season playing for a lower EPL team to get used to the step up

Huntelaar to reject any overtures from OT in favour of continueing with Ajax under Van Basten :( (Yet another hot striker rejects a move to OT, happens every year it seems)

No its been paper talk. Have you ever heard SAF or anyone so much as hint about him? Same with Berbatov.
