Why the Xbox 360 will win the console war.

Stop baiting the PS3 owners ;), they're feeling a bit tetchy at the moment after finding out the 360 plays GTAIV faster, sharper, at higher res, has a better online system, has exclusive downloadable additional episodes extending the GTAIV story and is cheaper.

S'what happens when you design a gaming console rather than a Blu-Ray player with a free console built in :D

Pretty daft article tbh. The wii will win this console war.

It's more 360 vs PS3 than Xbox vs PS2 vs Gamecube like it was last gen.

I've always considered the Wii as a side console to the 360 or PS3, it doesn't have a good enough library of games to stand on its own.

Nintendo are also focusing on a different market to Sony and Microsoft too I think.

It doesn't matter what you think, the Wii is dominating the "console war".

Depends on what way you look at it, I don't consider the Wii to be in the same league as the Playstation and Xbox this time around, whether Microsoft and Sony think this too I doubt.

This generation of console 'war' is between the PS3 and the Wii now for leadership. This isn't to say the 360 has done badly - quite the opposite in fact, but i think we all knew from the very beginning of this generation that the 360 wasn't going to outsell the playstation forever. The big surprise has been the Wii, i never expected Nintendo to claw things back, but this generation they have a pretty healthy lead, only time will tell if interest falters and the PS3 overtakes it or it continues to sell as well as it is now and end up the 'winner' if this generation.

Next generation won't be so certain as to which will sell better out of Microsofts and Sonys offerings, at the beginning of this generation the xbox had a tiny user base compared to the PS2.

The 'winner' is decided by which company has the largest installed user base and has made the largest profits. Whether people consider the Wii a true 'next gen' console is a moot point, it's winning.

[EDIT] yes i know i've used quotations far too much, but i hate a lot of the phrases thrown about when it comes to discussing each generation of consoles so trying to make it obvious i don't like em.

All released at similar times, all the current generation of their respective companies products, there's no reason whatsoever to seperate them. They are just different takes on what the company thought the public actually wanted.

The Wii, barring something very dramatic happenning, has won this round. More people have bought the wii than the other two, the Wii is selling more games than the other two.

That's pretty much the issue sorted.

It don't really matter on power of console side, the 360, ps3 are there respected new consoles the wii is nintendo's and its thrashing them so the winner is them tbh.
I had a 360 for abit was a great console just a shame they keep dying all the time, terrible build quality.

Ive played gta on my mates 360 and it looks better than the ps3 one i got, i aint no fanboy if one is better so be it and the 360 is far far better version i don't get these people that have to find away of defending it even though they know the 360 one is better.

I don't take any notice of this article, can he read the future ? i think not personally the ps3 is still outselling the 360 in the uk, even considering the 360 has the far better games line up due mainly to having a 1 year jump says it all, the wii is the real winner though. I have to admit to being dissapointed with gta4 really not as good as i was expecting, i am 34% through and am already bored sensless of it, another overhyped game the only game that has really blown me away is Uncharted so far.

UK console sales monitor Chart Track confirmed that for the past 15 weeks the PS3 has largely kept ahead of the Xbox 360. However, a spokesman admitted that the two machines' units have been "extremely close" in some weeks.

The real winner is Nintendo. Chart Track said that sales of the Wii have been “more than double” those of the PS3 over the last 15 weeks.

And the Wii would still be “healthily” ahead of PS3 and Xbox 360 if those two machines' UK sales were combined, the spokesman said.

the 360 is already the winner of this gen, perhaps not by sales but by the fact that microsoft is in a far better position in the console market, their user base has grown exponentially and that will have an effect on the following generation. they've done their job, they've proven that they can make a good, solid console and can support it well (and acknowledge their faults and take steps to fix them), the games are good, and there is a great selection, live, although it costs IS the best online console service in place and they've done their job at securing additional content for new games (looks at GTA IV).

whats more to be said. microsoft have done the best in this round. they've severely narrowed the margin with sony and the next gen should be on a more equal footing and less david versus goliath.

on the subject of the wii: i have a few friends that have this, from my observations it seems to be a console that is largely used as a tag on, or as something the whole family can play, once the novelty wears off it gets left in the corner whilst it's owner plays away PS3/360. they've made sales, but i don't think they've really made a great impact. i and many others view it as more of an accessory to the bigger brothers, i know no one with a wii as their only console, it's just not good enough.

edit: not a fanboy, owned and loved every main console in the last gen, loved playing on the wii (but got bored quickly) and i think the PS3 is a really good deal and good to play on (bar the controller which i find painful :p), i own a 360 purely for its exlusives for nothing else (and neither of my 2 have broke, one from the first 3 months of launch and one bought this week so i don't really have anything to complain about in regards to the 360)

Attach rates would tend to say different, as the Wii is also selling more games per console than either of the others. The key point you're possibly missing is that the Wii has a much larger target audience. The stereotypical hardcore gamer may not like the wii that much, but the casual gamer loves it, and there's a lot more casual gamers than hardcore ones.

Oh, and we have a Wii as our only console, so you can add that to the list. Any other games we want to play get played on the PC anyway.

I just ROFL so much at anyone thinking it's a 'war'.. there are only 'losers' in wars, no winners...
