No its been paper talk. Have you ever heard SAF or anyone so much as hint about him? Same with Berbatov.

Yes to both :)

There have been direct quotes about both of those players in the past (not to mention a scout who happens to be SAF's brother watching Huntelaar several times in the past)

I like Crouch and if real life football worked as well as Football Manager, I'd have him and Torres upfront together every game.

Unfortunetly they don't work together very well. They seem to get in each others way when they play and Torres gets pushed out wide.

I'd take £10+ mil for Crouch if we can get it (Which I think we can.) And I'd scout a new striker to partner Torres. We just need to find the right balance and partnership between the two.

More importantly we need a winger of proven quality. Thats where the bulk of our money needs to go. I just hope Benitez realises this and doesn't simply fill the team up with more squad players.

Crouch is probably worth £10m+ but whether Liverpool will get it is another matter

He wants more/better opportunity in the 1st team
Liverpool arent that keen on playing him- even when he is a decent sub option
He has been touted around for at least 6 months
(Is he also nearing the end of his contract?)

To me this all adds upto a bargain for who-ever wants to pay £7m or a bit more

If someone is already interested, and come the end of the summer cant find anyone else maybe this might increase the price a little more, but Liverpool have kinda already shown that they arent that interested in keeping him

Apparently Hleb is now certain to leave =[ I put Arsenal's chances at precisely 0 for next years EPL if there is no Hleb, Rosicky & Flamini in the starting line-up.

EPL?? Gayer.

Why will it make a difference if Hleb goes? All of those 11 goals in 3 seasons hardly helped did it? Will be interesting to see if he does go, how he moves.

Im really astounded at the figures being touted for Crouch and I certainly don't value him anywhere near the £10m mark some people would suggest.

Woohoo put it very well for me
If crouchy is valued by the inch,he best have a 3ft **** aswell He's just not good enough, he missed a lot of goals, he's stupidly poor in the air, and he's got next to no pace. His good touch helps him out, but i just cant see him working with another striker at the club.

Another problem is that when you have someone like crouch, the team automatically goes to long ball mode, and if your crap in the air........we's be better off with someone like Carew.

One for the Utd Fans. If West 'am are looking to reduce the wage bill, would you take a fully fit Dean Ashton, sub £10m instead of Berbatov ?

If Bent is worth 16m (albeit last season) - then yes Crouch is worth at least 2/3 of that - I wouldnt pay 15m though

Definitely NOT

Great goal last weekend without a doubt, but he injured himself in the process (no disrespect but WHU after going three-nil down where never going to get level, so why try something so risky?)

Good on him for trying but it just proves he is really another Saha (great striker WHEN fit, unfortunately thats all too rarely)

Happily pay £22-£25m for Berba, however its unlikely he will go for that kind of price to an EPL team, this is going to be a biding war and Utd wont go above this kind of price I have a feeling, even if all the other touted names are sold/wont move

Have lost a little interest in Beba simply in regards to his moods and effort (or lack of) in some games

I agree, great passer/dribbler but not enough goals and assists for my liking.

He is replaceable.

If it were Cesc or Clichy saying they were leaving, then I would be worried.

I'm more worried that it's Hleb AND Flamini that've left - how will Arsenal attract top class replacements if they're not willing to pay the going rate? How long do you think Cesc will stay after his 2 best mates leave who he's developed great on field relationships with and then Arsenal don't win anything next year? (Not certain by any means but is looking increasingly likely.)

I see what you're saying, 2 players leaving could be seen as some sort of mass exodus.

I don't however, I've just got a feeling that Wenger will be a little bit different with his signings this summer. I can understand how you're worried as both Flamini and Hleb were/are first team choices and along with Cesc were great in the midfield together.

But bare in mind that Cesc is that bit younger than both of those guys (21 and I think Flamini is 24, Hleb 27?), so probably still thinks he has a lot to learn from Wenger.

If Hleb goes, (which it looks like he will now after his agent's comments) I fully expect Arsenal to buy experienced replacements, Wenger will have to in order to convince other players to stay.

It's a shame that the team is getting broken up, but look at it in an optimistic way:

Flamini had one good season.

Hleb has scored 11 goals in 3 seasons.

They are replaceable and Arsenal can move on from the loss of these two players, I have every confidence.

It could just be what Ar5ena1 need though. They have failed to land the Premierleague title and not succeeded in Europe so maybe a change of personnel and a rebuilt team under Wenger might bring the fresh new look to spur them on next season.

I wouldn't be worried about them sending the wrong message about not payng the likes of Flamini and Hleb huge wage packets and not being able to compete. Personally, neither player has done enough to warrant a hugh pay deal, thus being on par with some of the biggest names at the club.

Arsene knows what he is doing, and if a big named player became available, I am sure he will do what is necessary to lure him there.

Still hope they dont though, and we can nick 4th from them next season ;)

dont know how barry is useful to us, we play two holding midfielders and torres/gerrad/2xwingers, surely we would need fast runners like babel

the thing is they've lost about £20mill worth of talent in the midfield for about £3million.

oh and btw if crouch had 3 years left on his contract then i'd put him in the 12-15mill bracket but not with just 1 year left surely?

The more I read the more I'm not too bothered at the departure of Flamini and Hleb.

Flamini has always been a mercenary and as has been mentioned, for all of his fantastic ability with the ball, Hleb's end product is nothing short of shocking during the time he's been with us.

I'm assuming Hleb's reason for going is a lack of silverware? Well **** off quite frankly. You've got to take some of the burden for the lack of a trophy.

From a footballing perspective Arsenal are, imo, one of the top three teams to be at in Europe and so if football is what its about then its not a problem. If its about the money then its the wrong club to be at.

Reading between the lines of Arsene's comments in the last few weeks though I wouldn't be suprised to see more substantial transfer market activity in the summer than we normally see.
