Fray Bentos pie-in-a-tin

I had a steak and ale and it was edible but not as good as the cheapest steak and ale pie that I've got from a pub. Eli Jenkins pub here does pie with chips and peas for £2.99 and is much better than the fray bentos. Still for lazy food it's acceptable.

One can only imagine the horror that lurks inside their 'Steak & Kidney Pudding', *shudder*.

The complete oppposite strangely - not as good as home made but perfectly acceptable for shop bought.

I remembered the pies being nice from my youth but one I had a few years ago went straight in the bin - just not nice, although the pastry was good in a strange way.

i like them cook them and transfer to a giant yorkshire pudding and some veg as well!

I love a fray Bentos pie... couple of pieces of bread and eaten out of the tin... lovely jubbly. Maybe its my northern pallet that allows me to enjoy its delightful taste.

I don't mind the odd Fray Bentos...

They are better than almost any other meal in a can/ready meal IMO.

Most canned food is vile.

As for normal ready meals, most are miles above FB, even say a bog standard Tesco Lasagne/Cannelloni
