Why the Xbox 360 will win the console war.

The ps3 will win simply due to the fact that when everyone has forgotten about 360's and wii's they will still be selling millions of slim ps3's. This is what's happening with the ps2 and I can't see it changing.

Errr it has changed. The Wii is already outselling the PS3. The Gamecube did not outsell the PS2.

That's because the PS2 has an immense back-catalogue of quality games.

If you think the PS3 is going to follow the same trend then you better hope more titles come out.

Is everyone here some sort of financial analyst. Why dont we just wait a couple of years instead of pretending we know who is going to win, some people are so attached to their consoles its actually unbelievable.

It's more 360 vs PS3 than Xbox vs PS2 vs Gamecube like it was last gen.

I've always considered the Wii as a side console to the 360 or PS3, it doesn't have a good enough library of games to stand on its own.

Nintendo are also focusing on a different market to Sony and Microsoft too I think.

Sadly I have to agree.

I personally see the Wii as a console that compliments either the 360 or the PS3 as it offers a different experience to what they are offering.

Myself, I own all three... a happy PSWii60 owner here, and I love them all :)

That said, there is more likely a damn site more casual gamers out there compared to people with the money to own 2 or 3 consoles - undoubtably the Wii is the console of choice for those people.

Never classed the Wii as in this 'war' thing that's going on, always seen it as a toy rather than a console.

Numbers meaning nothing in the end, people have more than one type and may not even use them for gaming, i.e. Both people I know of with PS3's don't even own any games (they're AV freaks =p)

Wii wins because it makes more money per unit :)
So basically you're saying Nintendo always "win", but would you say the Gamecube "won"?

Just for the record, even though I only own one of the consoles I don't have any sort of allegiance to Microsoft, and I especially don't have anything against Nintendo as I think they're an ace company.

I don't hope anything - I don't own a ps3 and I don't care if I'm wrong I just think that over the lifetime of the current consoles it will sell the most. Granted the ps2 had a better back catalogue but I don't think you can underestimate mothers who have only heard of the playstation picking them up at christmas for their kids when they are really cheap. The wii might encroach on this but I don't think the 360 will.

Ok maybe you don't hope so, but I still think the PS3 will need a massive library of quality games if it wants to last as long as the PS2 has as that's what is keeping the PS2 going.

No backwards comptability seriously hurt the ps3 in my opinion.

This rounds war will end up more of a tie between 360 and PS3 I think. The wii is kinda storming ahead.

Next round though everyone will have stepped up their game and then we really will be seeing some incredible things.

I think your looking at this the wrong way. With the huge amount of free publicity the Wii gets from tv shows talking about how brilliant it is, radio shows always talking about the how different and how good the Wii is... surely everyone now knows about the Wii as a brand?

I'd argue that yes everyone knows the Playstation name as a successful brand, but the price tag has put a lot of people off the PS3. The Wii may be a new brand name, but it's cheap price and damn near everyone and their son ranting and raving about it surely means your theory is useless?

pfft, PS3 will fight dirty, Because during the night, It is black like Ninja, 360 will never be as camouflaged, And so will stick out like sore thumb, Maybe if it was to snow 360 would stand a chance, But to be fair. PS3 will lead a night assault and destroy the 360.

/War

Wii on the other hand comes in various colours and so represent non combatants. Until the PS3 thinks all is safe, Then the Wii's will lead a multicoloured uprising and take over the Console world.

It will be like Zerglings attacking a Protoss Zealot

I think the PS3 will eventually catch up with 360 at which point M$ will announce the 360's
successor which will leave Sony and there 10 year plan in the dust.

The Wii is a strange one, I have owned one and like most people once the novelty wore off i got rid. I honestly think it's all the none gamers buying them for Wii sports playing it for a couple a weeks then sticking it in the cupboard only to be bought out again for a couple of weeks when Wii fit etc. is released. It's hardly console gaming as proper gamers know it. At some point the Wii bubble will burst then que Nintendo's next underpowered console relying on eyeball tracking technology or something to sell it to the none gaming middle age middle class masses

Why would MS releasing a new console leave the PS3 in the dust?

I think this generation has proven that people aren't going to pay stupid money for a console no matter how technically incredible it is.

Most people who buy a Wii are buying it or their children. Of course we've seen that they are targeting to a new market but the reason it sold so well from the get go was the price and with the way it's selling now, it's bubble isn't bursting anytime soon.

I'm sorry but playing to play online is gay.
And bluray>dvd.
Ps3 will easely win due to higher quality exclusives, eg. PGR not even comes near Gran Turismo.

The people that have money will get a ps3.
The cheap people who want to flash their consoles get a 360 for free gaming.

At least that's how all my mates are atm, only reason to get a 360 is for free games after flashing the FW.

How many people are going to buy old generation/technology with new generation/technology available plus devs usually jump to the latest tech as well

Two points there's no real price difference between a Wii and 360 and millions of people have bought PS3's and 360's

The reason it's selling well is through very clever marketing which includes limiting supply which makes it more desirable and that damn control system. I think the bubble will burst when either MS or Sony release a similar control system giving people the advantage of playing Wii type games on a proper next gen console or people just see it for what it is (a fad) and move on!

:)

People want Playstations.

I have a 10 year old and an 11 year old in the house at this very moment, when i asked them what console they wanted they both when asked said "PS3".
People at work want PS3's, nobody is interested in the 360, only problem people have is that the PS3 is still too expensive for most people to consider a purchase.

I have all 3 new consoles, 2 PS2s, a dreamcast and a decent PC and the 360 is the one the kids least use.

If your including old consoles then I'd say my N64 is least used :o

Current gen, there are the three major consoles, three pc's.

The Wii probably gets used least.
