Do you eat a lot of junk food ?

It's about the quality of life you have while you are younger...

I would rather be in shape/healthy and be fit when I am in my late 30's rather than wheezing around. (I am in my mid 20's now).

Well then good luck to you. There are plenty of people in the world who live perfectly healthy lives yet are struck down with cancer, or some other wasting disease when they are your age or a touch older.

But hey, it won't happen to you, right? :)

I eat what I want, when I want to. I do eat a decent amount of fruit and veg every day, but don't really do a massive amount of exercise to help it.

I am losing weight though and feel a lot better when playing football. Was in awful shape towards the end of last year and needed to change it, big time, as I hardly ever ate anything good for me!

I probably eat more than is healthy (bacon, crisps, etc) but my main vice is beer. Far too many calories late at night is never a good thing.

The solution is not to deny yourself the things which you enjoy but to consume them in moderation and to exercise regularly to help counteract any negative effects. Unfortunately I've not managed to find time for the latter which is probably why I weigh 18st :p.

I've got 4 out of 5 easter eggs left from easter, and that's always the story with junk food. Maybe have a bag of crisps every few days, but generally I just eat high carbohydrate meals and that's not the best. Having said that I'd 2 packets of starburst twisted chews today - but then they're new, and nice.

dont really eat a lot of junk food . if i buy junk i will balance it off with smt good for me :D

OT
atm not feeling that great.. asthma is acting up...no inhaler. might head down to the docs tomorrow. Occasional chest pains (but ive been getting them for a while (month) and they aint too bad really) A good nights sleep i reckon will do me good.

I cut it down a couple of weeks ago to a very small amount..im flat sitting atm and im basically eating all junk food as theres no food here..and the most local shop is a corner shop, with a grocery store atleast 45-60 mins away :( (i dont drive).

Nobody lives forever. A boring diet may add a few years, but you're still going to die in a horrible (and most likely excruciatingly painful/slow) way, so you may as well just indulge.

I don't know about the rest of the effects but people with bad diets LOOK terrible - and I'm not talking about fatness. If one keeps it up by one's mid 30s the effect is bad skin, hung features, dull eyes... you can tell the kind of people, you see them around often enough. A poor diet really catches up with you.

You can still have junk food one or two meals a week, just as long as you eat properly the rest of the time.

Yeah I admit my comment was basically aimed at the relatively small amount of idiots who seem to think that avoiding the odd doner will make them immortal, whereas there is just as much chance they'll be cut down in their prime by something nasty.

That's just how the OP came across to me. He hasn't had chocolate in two months...

Yaywoo.

:/

Yes, I think it's unfair [and actually unhealthy from a mental perspective] to deprive yourself too much. I eat healthily and little - but I'll still have a couple of nights a week where I'll drink lots of beer, eat a pizza etc. It doesn't effect my weight at all, just as long as I don't do it the majority of the time.

I don't think denying yourself permanently is good.

Just wondering how many here eat a lot of junk food or avoid it all together ?

I personally have not had:

Chocolate
Potato Chips (crisps)
Ice Cream
Cookies
Blah blah

In almost 2 months now, No McDonnalds either. I have home cooked Fries (done in the oven) and fish once every 2 weeks now.

My diet is now basically boiled rice, oven cooked chicken, boiled Potatoes, veg, eggs, tuna/salmonthat kind of stuff.

I have a massive appetite for fruit, and have at least 5 - 7 pieces a day (apples, bananas, strawberries, oranges, whatever I can get my hands on basically).

I have a fairly large (read massive) appetite, I have started to do weight training about 6 weeks ago now, and trying my best to get completely cut and a 6 pack before the end of the year.

So, anyone else giving up on the junk food

I never really eat junk food enough to effect me. I have the odd junk-food snack, but in moderation it's fine.

I've never had a McDonalds either ;)

I don't avoid junk food and eat it daily, if I don't I lose weight and that's not good at an age of 17 as I'm nearly underweight.

Macdonals/kfc/ burger king daily + a lot of dutch junkfoods like loads of fries with mayo, frikandels, krokets, etc...

Chocolade and crisps are my fav snacks too.

At a guess 75% of all the food I eat is junkfood.

My daily food on school days is this:
8am, 1 slice of bread with ham.
00.10pm sarny with a frikandel + loads of mayo and ketchup or a hamburger from local fast food joint near school.
4pm mum brings me home usually a whopper from Burger King on her way back from work
8pm normall dinner, which is junkfood twice a week.
11pm-2am Dad gets a quarter pounder from the local mac.

Putting weight on with all that crap is just as bad as being a bit underweight. Rather eat more healthy food (e.g. lots of pasta) to put the weight on. You're mad eating 75% crap.

I try to be careful what I eat but when I food shop once a week 5-10 bars of chocolate fall into the trolley ,also at my gfs lots of chocolate jumps into my mouth when I'm not looking !
1-2 packs of Crisps with a couple of bottles of stella to wash it down seems to become my lips most days too !

Not so, its been proven time and again, eating (consistently) healthy food with regular exercise lowers your risk of cancer / other wasting diseases. As well as many other problems, heart disease etc.

So chin up, positive attitude and get healthy, you will not only feel better but you will actually be lowering your risk of those sorts of problems.

I can't eat enough of anything else because it tastes like crap...
Its either this, or become anorexic or whatever. With almost underweight I meant I'm slightly underweight prolly ( I weight 46 kg's, I'm 1m65-1m70 ( not sure how much exactly) ).

Each time I go on holls (eg. to Poland) I miss the junkfood so much I usually lose 3kg's in 2 weeks... I can't eat too much normal food because one: it tastes bad, 2: I get sick @ half the volume than with junkfood and 3: when I eat too much of it it all comes out again...

I could prolly force myself to eat other stuff, but tbh I see no reason to do this until I really get up to weight. People say my veins and getting blocked etc but my blood pressure is actually far below the average guy of my age so that can't really mean my veins are getting clogged... Besides living like this is much nicer, I don't really pay attention to anything I eat and I'm not limited in any way.

Besides, I'm probably too lazy atm to start eating other stuff, I hate wasting time on food, including eating it, I like stuff makeable fast, eatable fast, with little litter, that can be eaten with bare hands while doing something else.

Pasta etc is far too hard to eat for my laziness, I can't just shove it in in 2 mins and be done. Besides I don't like the taste anyways.

EDIT yes I am stupid, I am a lazy **** and hope I'll get some intelligence in the next few years :p.
