Just got a job in London. Any advice?

the buses around surbiton are very good! its very close to kingston aswell which again has very good transport links.

if you want to get into london, you can get the train from surbiton to waterloo which takes around 15minutes.

i lived in surbiton during halls last year, i stay in teddington now.

Fair enough, I've only had experience of Surrey from my ex living in Woking, which had awful bus frequency.

Surbiton is not central london. But the surrounding areas are pretty good, Kingston and Richmond are nice, but they aren't cheap at all.

Surbiton is Transport For London so links are good.

Do you have a car? Surrey doesn't have all the transport links that London has, so you can't rely on buses and tubes for travel.

If he's working where I think he's working (i drive past that road twice a day), then about 5 mins walk away is a bus stop which has routes to surbiton station (5 minutes, and from there 15 minutes on the train to the centre of london) or Kingston Town centre (15 minutes), where there's plenty to see and do.

Surbiton is practically out in the countryside. It's relatively cheap round there, should be able to find a room in a house share for £400-500 per month. :)

Lol soo true, it must be lush and green out there, Ive forgotten what trees actually look like :D

Good luck is all I will say, and where will you be working ? It's gonna be expensive for socialise, living, breathing, anything really !

Is surbiton nice, read up that it looks like an ok place to buy which i will be doing in a few years ?

i suppose could be function of fast trains slow trains, fast train from richmond for example takes 15 to waterloo, slow takes like 30-40mins.

Fast train from Waterloo to Woking is 30 mins, I've taken that journey far too many times, lol

Surbiton is lovely, but because of that, and the fact that its close to waterloo means that buying is VERY expensive.

For a one bed flat you're looking at circa 250k

You can get fast trains that run non-stop from surbiton to waterloo
That's just cheating :p

The train I got on this morning didn't stop anywhere. Still takes an age as there're too many trains going into waterloo at 9am. Barely going walking pace for some of the time, coming to a halt in random places. Hence it takes over 10mins.

Still, that's rush hour for you.

If its not acccutlly in London then. Do you think I could still take my car?

Yeah. The A3 can get fairly busy during rush hour, but generally the Surbiton/Tolworth/Kingston area is failry pain free.

Plus its easy to scoot down the A3 (no speed cameras) to the M25 and beyond, should you so wish.
