Students...all ****ers?

what the loans in relation to student maturity, and their ability to play the system?

And my ass can play the saxophone.

Loan details have nothing to do with the fact that the majority of students act like ****ers during their time at uni. Feel free to argue the contrary, but I imagine less than 1% of non-students will give that angle any regard whatsoever.

Were you bullied at University? Only kidding of course. :p

Seriously though, the fact that you said "Discuss" opens up many paths to the topic. I didn't realise there was a set road that we had to follow in response to your original post?

1) They usually have no 'real life' experience.

Many degrees now include a placement year so students DO have real life experience.

Parents/schools etc should do more to properly prepare them, rather than simply inflict them on the rest of us.

You could say the same about those with a superiority complex becuase they got a job right after school.

Oh dear, a lot of people who weren't students on here have very much an elitist attitude. Get over yourselves please, you're no better or worse than any students.

I'm a student and have worked all the way through my education from the age of 15. I do still live at home with my parents and I don't get charged rent, BUT this is because my mum and dad don't pay for anything else for me. I pay for my own car, my own insurance, tax, phone bills, internet bills etc. I buy pretty much all my own stuff (TV, consoles, computers etc) and have done for the past 4 or so years.

As soon as I get a proper job after summer, I have every intention of moving out so that they can downsize, make some money on the house and move into somewhere smaller as it is a waste for just 2 people.

Rossi how old are you? You put luxuries over paying for a roof over your head?

Even if its only a little dude a part time job should help...

Students are anoying as hell, but now I understand why.... Well I have been one for the past 4 years, and boy was it fun. But also some people fail to realise that there are students from a multitude of backgrounds. I was fairly forunate as my parents sorted meout, but I still had to work during summer holidays to save up my 'lash' money. Just because some students didn't have to juggle a job along with their studies does not mean they should have a barrage of abuse directed at them.

Doing all these annoying silly things changed me from a silly, gekky, scared of girls schoolboy into the man I am today. It gave me confidence, showed me how hard work could be with loads of assignments set at once, and helped me get to where I am today in our fine capital on a Graduate sheme I love.

It's more than getting a 100% lecture attendance, doing your homework, and being quiet after 11pm.

Viv la engineering :D

I'm 21. I'm waiting to graduate from Uni, which should be July. Handed in my last piece of work on Monday. I don't earn enough to put a roof over my head, hence why my mum and dad don't charge me rent.

Did you not read? I have a part time job, but that pays for the things i listed earlier like my car etc and getting to and from unio. If i have money left after my general expenses then i'm within my rights to treat myself to something.

ahh ok. Different generation i guess. I wouldnt dream of buying things like cars and consoles if i didnt pay at least a little to my upkeep.

I'm a student, would not say I am dirty, loud and just generally annoying, I clean my bedroom every week and every day make sure its not getting cluttered, I'm not loud, yes I do like to play loud music from time to time but it was usually only for around 30mins max and not very often and I certainly am considerate.

My car was second hand (an S-reg Punto) and paid for by myself some time ago.
Similar to what you said, I wouldn't dream of asking my mum and dad to buy me a car and pay for its upkeep. I need a car, and so I have bought one off my own back.

My mum and dad only ever charged my older brothers and sister rent as they had full time careers and could afford to. I habve a part time job, I couldn't get a full time job whilst at university (yes, i know some people put themselves through a full time job and full time at university, and to be honest thats their prerogative.) and so my part time earnings pay for any things I want to do in my recreational time after paying for my expenses. My mum and dad are completely fine with that.

.

I think you could argue that Seek was implying that he feels students are childish and immature, the placement year usually takes place in the 3rd year, leaving 2 years of mucking about

Im just about the same, I make sure to clean my stuff in the kitchen after use and put it away in my cupboards, plus I clean the kitchen from time to time.

But then again I am 24 and I do have 'life experience' I was at work for 5 years before coming to Uni

The two girls that lived in the rooms next to mine have gone home today so I can be as loud as a want now.

YAY :D
