50" PLASMA. £1000 TO SPEND

Right the cheapest I can get this is 1300 and there is only a few left around now.
If I can get the px for 800 is the pz worth 500 more.
I might use it for with a media pc now so what would the px be like for gaming.
Would it be worth 500 more?
I could build a media pc for that!!

Aaaaaargh help!

If your usinmg it for media content then the 1080p will be superb

Gaming is superb on mine and i run a PS3, Xbox360 and Wii on it.

I could've done the same and got the PX but decided it was worth it to get the PZ as i know i would've regretted it if i didn't.

Better to pay the £500 now than over a grand in a years time when you realise that you should've gotten a 1080p set.

I know Plasma is better and I know some LCD's have crap Freeview/SD performance.

Got a Plasma downstairs and it's a smoother image than my LCD but that's the only real difference I care to notice, my last LCD had terrible SD performance though.

Well it depends on the brand and quality of the set. Like LCD's, there are some poor quality plasmas. Now I'm not saying yours is but that can be the case, also Black Levels and contrast ratios are much better on Plasmas along with SD performance.

Yeah I already know the benefits of Plasma screens and I would have got one if it wasn't for the fact I use my LCD for the computer and I needed 1920x1080, wasn't going to pay loads extra just because it was a Plasma however.

and the Plasma downstairs is a Panasonic PX-something series 37 inch, it has great SD performance and looks smoother than my LCD, apart from that I haven't noticed any differences with the motion and the viewing angles are much better.

Well from this morning I've completly changed my mind.
My local specialist will do the 50" 70px for £900 or £1000 with five year warranty so I'm thinking that's not bad?
I'm on 32" crt at the mo so this is going to be a massive step up.

bit late but just seen this

Panasonic 50PX8 Plasma TV
£449.98

5 Year Warranty

edit oh ...wait im only 1 year late lol

wont bother to delete..just incase someone is looking for a tv

Its not something ive ever seen and im particularly sensitive to these kind of things.

Well it's there. Seen it on a number of displays now and the main reason I'll not be going the plasma route for my next display - bit of bugger as my mates Kuro makes me want one, but for the flicker....

call it whatever, the end effect is still the same.

then perhaps you are sitting too close watching SD for your viewing distance/screen size. I know what you mean but I cant notice it at the ideal viewing distance (which you should have researched before perhaps buying that 50" or whatever)
