Games you wish hadn't been canned

Full Throttle 2: The first was the only point and click game i ever enjoyed

I was actually glad that never saw the light of day, I thought it looked like a big pile of pants! And Full Throttle is one of my all time favourite games!

Can't think of anything specific that's been cancelled recently that I was disappointed in.

TF2 (No not the one that came out with The Orange Box) They were working on a new TF2 before Source came out. :(

Yer they went through quite a few...

Walker revealed in March 2007 that Valve had quietly built "probably three to four different games" before settling on their final design

As I haven't been PC gaming for very long I can't think of any....

Someone was doing a new Hired Guns with the unreal engine. Would have been nice to see it. Hired Guns was a classic from the amiga days.

...but my real answer is the real Thief 3 that LG were planning to make when they went bust, the one with the full open/dynamic city, plus all the other great games LG woud have made by now if they were still around.

Wasnt there a new Elite game at some point that was canned, or was I just hopeful that there was a new one in production after Frontier.

Would almost bet my child that Elite 4 was talked about, and then vanished quicker than a bag of suspect contents at a Britney Spears party.

Star Trek The Secret Of Vulcan Fury (Interplay) 1997.

Cancelled after they had spent around $10M and only 39% of the game was finished so Interplay canned it to save even more money required to complete it. Would have come on 6 CD's (thats a lot of data for 1997). Game used a proprietory CGI engine which was very tricky to use so once the animators all got fired no way for anyone to complete it. Contained some amazing and well ahead of their time digital actors. Unlikely to ever be completed even though it is rumoured to have the 7 original series actors in their signature roles for the last time. Those sound tapes and whatever progress was made on the game still sits in an Interplay safe. If you look around the web there are several non playable demos as well as some CGI character test movies.

Yep. I really, really wish that one had been completed.

Outcast 2 - I loved the original and I remember looking at the concept art and whatnot. Sounded very ambitious what thy had planned. It was a sad day when the announcement came.

The original Resident Evil 2. I remember reading about it and getting excited about it when I was younger. The one released is great but I always wandered how different the other one was.
