All are working fine and I'm wondering what to do with em.

I'd like to try and utilise them in my main rig in a RAID config. What are my options here as obviously my comp does'nt have any SCSI ports, can I use them or are they dustbin fodder?

Any help appreciated...

If you want to use them then will need a SCSI RAID card. Depending upon your computers main board then will depend upon what would be a good choice.

No point in putting on a normal PCI RAID card.

Im on an MSI P35 Neo2 FR, any recommendations?

What the maximum no of drives I could get on a RAID 0 config?

Ive got 3 18.3gb ones, they are 7200rpm and really really really really noisy. I found them in a Proliant server in the tip :)

a place I worked at a few months ago tipped 35 servers... yes 35!!

I wanted to ebay them or give them to charity.. do something with them.

all between 3 and 4 years old

I'd sell them as they'll be quite noisy and you'll have to fork out for a controller anyway.

For the money you make from selling them(or a 'little' bit more) I'm sure you'll be able to pick up a couple of Samsung F1 640GB's or 1TB's which you can stick in a Raid 0 set. You'll have more space, they'll be a lot quieter and faster.

??

It very much depends on the model. Could you post up the details from the tag? It'll give us a chance to find their specs and see if they're worth using or selling. You can pick up decent pci-e controller cards for <£100 now, and any half way decent scsi drive will fly when raided in that number, and on the plus side you could always raid 5 them at practically no overhead cost which makes for fast/redundant fun!

I found with mine that you can simply build an enclosure out of an old case, pad it with neoprene, and you can have a silent drive box that's fast and reasonably quiet!
