Town and Country Parking Ltd.

I think Dolph sums it up perfectly..

At the end of the day, these are private/landowner car parks, no matter how much you disagree, if you want to park there, you should obey their rules... legality has nothing to do with common courtesy..

We've had the Parent/Baby argument over and over, it's not worth the hassle, the spaces are there for a reason, they are allow greater access to the car, and have a 'safer' path to the supermarket entrance (In general), and are labelled for all to 'recognise', there is no argument against abusing these spaces that isn't showing a huge lack of irresponsibillity..

If its a case of a quiet time and most disabled spaces are free and you are going in quickly, whats the problem?
I do it when popping to starbucks at the local sainsburys as its got loads of disabled bays that generally are never even 50% full.

So if someone parks 'legally' accross your drive when it was empty, and you came back to find them parked there, you would think that's OK then? They can say the same thing, "Well, no-one uses it through the day, so I just park there"...

His point is that if he had 10 driveways he wouldn't mind.

No, the point is, just because one (or more) spaces are empty at the time you park in them, doesn't mean they aren't needed.. ;)

And even if he had 10 driveways, he'd no doubt still be annoyed someone parked in one of them who shouldn't be... :) (not a serious comment, I have no idea how he would react with 10 driveways :) )

Well in this sort of situation, my Mum should have only been fined if a disabled person complained... and since none of the other disabled spaces were taken up after she came out 5 minutes later I doubt anyone complained!

Out of interest was your mum aware that she would probably get a fine for parking in the disabled space if caught?

If it was someone who could move the car as and when i needed access then it wouldnt be an issue to me.
But yes, what you are talking about is completely different to what we are talking about.

That would depend of course on whether I am offering the public a service from my house for which they would reasonably be expected to park their cars..

I'm so angry with this company!

I parked in a disabled bay at Asda in Coatbridge yesterday, with my blue badge clearly on display in the windscreen, yet when I returned to my car 6 minutes later there was a parking ticket, with the reason "unauthorised use of a disabled parking bay" on it... When I asked to speak to a manager in Asda I was told it was a private company and the parking attendant would be patrolling so I should speak to him..

I found the parking attendant and asked him why he had put the ticket on my car and he said "BECAUSE ITS NOT YOUR BADGE, YOUR TAX ISNT FREE!" I told him it was my sisters car, and the mobility componant of disability living allowance that entitles you to free car tax is different to the entitlement of the blue parking badge anyway! Its the person who has the badge who is entitled to use it, whether travelling as a passenger or driver and showed him that it was my photograph on back of the badge.

He had no right to put a ticket on the car as the blue badge was displayed in the windscreen, but he refused to cancel it there and then.

He told me to photocopy both sides of my badge and write to the address on the ticket, telling them that "the wind must have caught my badge when I closed the door" I'm sorry, but I refuse to lie! This man could quite clearly see my badge, but obviously didn't think it was mine because I'm a 27 year old girl who was walking! My medical condition is none of his business, my doctor, nursing team, physiotherapist and neurologist all agree that I'm entitled to the badge, so he had no right to question it, and give me a parking violation ticket!

I'm so angry!

Ahh yes, the idiots who thought my old BMW was a Merc. :p

Tell them where to go although she tbh should be flogged for parking in a disabled bay. ;):p:D

Hi, Ive just had a run in with TCP and am hoping you can advise whether or not I should ignore them.
I went to my local Sainsbury on saturday. They allow 2 hours parking. Now, its a shared carpark, with Halfords, Wilko, Poundland and a few others. I went into Wilkos and poundland before going into Sainsbury to do my shopping. The shop was crowded and busy and it took quite a while to get round and do my weekly shop. I then realised it had started to rain so went for a coffee and sandwich in their cafe. As the rain still didnt stop I eventually made a dash for the car only to find a 'parking fine' for being there over two hours. The penalty was £60 for just ten minutes over stay. Yes I overstayed, I was using the facilities.
Ive been reading a lot of forums which all advise ignoring the fine. However, staff in the store, have told us that TCP ARE taking people to court. They are also using sensor technology so they know what time the cars enter and leave. Can I fight this and win or should I just pay up?

They have issued an invoice for the person who drove and parked the car there. The only info they can get from the DVLA is the registered keeper; lest they have taken photos of you driving the car into the carpark, they can not determin who was driving the car at the time and you are under zero obligation to tell them

i parked in a disabled bay adjacent to my local halfords on a retail park. i parked their so they could stick my personal plates on the car. the amusing thing is that they give me a ticket with my old registration, and about 5 mins later i drove off with the new reg.

long story short, i still got the reminders, final demands and threats of impending doom in the post over the course of 4-5 months. i dont think ive heard off them for a month or so now so im assuming theyve given up :)

if your not prepared to bluff it out and put up with the constant letters which are very very convincing then id just pay it; that or man up!

amsuing thing is that they first demand payment with a discounted "fine". after a few letters the price goes up, but then in the next letter they offer another discount to attempt to get you to pay. they are all robbing bstards.

had a few of these over the years,

if its council/police then pay it

if its anyone else then bin it, especially if its a free carpark.

the lad above fined for voerstaying in sainsburies, take your reciepts for your shopping and your ticket into sainsburies and give the manager hell for it, the sooner the retail parks and supermarkets stop letting these conmen into their car parks the better

and as for disabled spaces and parent and child pfft, parking in the taxi spaces is the best option :)
