You could see the same with ronaldo, even stood with his team mates before the penalty he was bricking it. A couple of us mentioned it during the game.

So many went missing tonight, Tevez, Ronaldo, Rooney, J Cole, Malouda, Drogba yet it was still very entertaining for a neutral.

Rooney is one player who I think really needs a rest, not going to euro's may prove to be the rest he desperately needs.

i thought tevez played well and saw a lot of the ball

My heart stopped, but its no way on earth a pen, even Drogba turned and walked away without complaining.

Unsurprisingly Joe Cole never.
God I hate him.

Feel really sorry for John Terry, he did so well to make the final, what a good man and a tough, tough lad. It's odd to say I genuinely feel sorry for Chelsea, no team deserved to lose it really, it was a great match of football.

As JohnnyG will no doubt be expecting, can't believe Chelsea cleared ANOTHER off the line, seriously... But Chelsea hit the woodwork twice in open play.

First half we should have wrapped it up, second half Chelsea were brilliant, extra time we perhaps edged it.

I thought VDS was the pretty poor, gave no confidence at the back, Rooney was diabolical. On the flip side, Ronaldo was phenomenal and the best player on the park by streets (so much for not turning up in the big games lads...) followed closely by Carrick who was exceptional (apparently he doesn't play well against the good sides according to some massively uninformed poster on here).

Edit: I realise I have made a contradiction in terms, but I don't care, I'm so happy!

Ronaldo was **** after half time. Re-watch the match and watch his manner and face going in for half time. He already looks like he's lost the game.

He stopped chasing, I really didnt rate him after halftime. He was a beaten man after chelsea equalised.

Yeah, I only watched from HT and Ronaldo was just average, not bad, but no better than anyone else.

He saw a lot of it but done nothing with it. His workrate was useful going into ET though.

Same as rooney really in the first half, didnt allow the chelsea defenders to settle with the ball. Him and tevez kept hounding them.

Rooney ran out of steam, tevez didnt.

Has rooney really settled into the team this year with the style of play and united set up? I think not, although earlier in the year when manu lost fans on this board said ronaldo was crap without him.

Lets face it this year Manu will go for a out and out striker and either Tevez or rooney will no longer fit.

Ronaldo was our best passer of the ball, his passing was brilliant.

Tevez' fitness is incredible for his size, the man has a heart of a lion in how he plays, he would literally run til he passed out for the cause.

I think next season you'll still see Rooney and Tevez up front, with a 3rd striker (4th if Manucho gets his permit) rotating around depending on the opponents or requirements of a match. Today we were crying out for a Saha to get his head on things.

Up until tonight I always thought, if one striker was to go it was Tevez as Ferguson loves Rooney. Two seasons ago Ferguson said Rooney was one of the best 5 players he's ever had (Scholes, Giggs, Cantona, Schmeichel and Rooney IIRC) and it was always Tevez on the bench with Rooney starting. Now the season's over and the stats don't lie, Tevez scored more goals and certainly a lot of important goals. Tonight we saw Ferguson pulling Rooney and leaving Tevez, something I thought I wouldn't see, certainly not in such a match.

Is Ferguson finally seeing that Rooney is massively under-performing a the moment and isn't as good as Tevez at holding the ball, passing or scoring? The other issue I've thought about, and if (it won't) it should come to us selling Rooney, who would buy him and would we get the £30m we paid?

He was pretty quiet from half-time onwards and missed another big penalty.

Players miss penalties.
Any excuse to snipe him eh?

Scores against Chelsea, in a European Cup final with a great goal, totally runs the show in the first half and his passing remained great throughout (Chelsea doubled up on him second half), he's now scored against all the top sides in England, all the top sides in Europe he's come up against bar Barcelona, but he still doesn't perform?

Let us not forget, had Cech gone the other way, great penalty. He saved it with his bloody face.

As I said to you, Rooney played too many games while he was still growing. Everton had noted that he needed to be protected while growing to prevent injury. Rooney wouldn't listen he left.

I remember at the time Everton's doctors said they had monitored his bone growth and was still growing so needed protecting from playing too much or risk injury later on.

He now has balsa wood feet even though he's built like a cart horse he's injury prone. Manu flogged him to death in his first 12 months.

I'd sell rooney if you keep ronaldo to fund a out and out scorer.

As you have said to me Rooney has gone backwards at manu and i've long been a believer that 99% of players dont get better. I've never believed all this look how good he is at 20, just think how good he will be at 27.

Take what you can now and sell him to whoever will pay 30 million. He just doesnt fit anyway.

:eek::confused:

Ive not said he hasn't performed nor that he struggles in the big games. He was very good first half but pretty quiet from there on in.

I'd disagree Baz, I felt he shifted the ball about better than anyone else even in the second half, he was neutralised by two men and Chelsea held the ball brilliantly (and we turned it over all too often as we reverted to keeping the ball in the air - or not keeping as the case is).

On another note, how bias is Andy Gray to Chelsea? He's really annoyed me this season, but tonight was a joke, he even let his guard slip in the Penalty Shootout, after Tevez netted, when Ballack was putting the ball down Gray went into some nonsense then said "Good luck boys".

Really don't like him, so up his own **** it's unreal.

And then there is Jaime Redknapp. First thing he mentions when it goes back to the studio... amazingly (although not unsurprisingly), Steven Gerrard. It's phenomenal... he's actually in love with Gerrard, so much so he mentions him straight after Man Utd win the European Cup after beating Chelsea.

I swear, I'm making a Jaime Redknapp-Steven Gerrard drinking game, my only fear is that I'd be absolutely BLADDERED every week by 6pm.

Can't stand Andy Gray either. Him and Keys love to try and stir up trouble with their stupid assumptions.

Redknapp is a legend though. He took over from Barnes (when faded out) as may favourite player as a kid.

I used to really like him as a player (even as a Manc I've always quite liked Liverpool - I know people might hold this against me) as I did many players from around that 96-97 era, I was always a massive fan of Robbie Fowler, he's still one of the best finishers I've ever seen.

But as a pundit he's rubbish, and even with Louise, ex-sexiest woman in the world next to him in bed, I'm in no doubt he goes off to sleep only thinking of one man, Stevie G.
