Bullies @ Work

I had a supervisor like that before, sometimes she actually upset me, but in the end I just didn't reply when she told me off, and she gave up. Recently she moved store and now I'm applying for the same job, and I think I'll get it, it's not any more superiour to my current job really.

She was actually quite nice, probably being about 17-18, myself being 21. Good idea on still reporting him though, might have to ring up tomorrow :D I got his name so shouldnt be a problem :P

This is just typical retail store management, the vast majority of them treat ordinary staff like scum regardless of whether they put effort into their work or not. I'd say they're most likely like this because they're stuck in retail and it kills them to see people come and move on to greener pastures.

I was sifting job applications today and had one from a "manager" at a big supermarket. Unfortunately, his example of being "Customer Focussed" didn't actually disclose what the needs of his customers were.

He showed meticulous planning of how to cater to customer needs, except he didn't actually ask them. It was almost like a "This is what the customer wants; they just don't know it yet".

well done on sticking up for the lassie but report the ***** as well then he can get shouted at by his superiors :)

going by what you said he only stopped and apologised to both of you's when you asked for his superior?
he sounds like fair game for getting put off his little power trip and i suspect he probably gave the lassie a right shouting at in the back of the store after....

would be amusing if we knew the branch of shop and the guys name :P

When I used to work in the restaurant I loved my manager, he moved away not long before I quit, had a lock in & let all the staff help themselves to the bar.

Bloody brilliant...I love stories like this! Well done that man!!! You should have followed through and spoke to the store manager - retail is such a fickle business they would have probably given him a written warning for that. The very fact that a customer felt the need to stand up for the 'poor, helpless girl' would do the 'massive, bald, horrible' manager no favours....

I once bollocked a woman for hitting her kid round the face several times. I couldn't actually believe people were just standing there letting it happen! Believe me it wasn't just a smack (and I believe in smacking by the way), she was proper clouting this 4 year old round the face. I told her if she did it again, I'd shout for the [Transport] Police. Needless to say, she didn't do it again.
