Which US state would you live in and why?

Illinois; I have long lost cousins there that I met through Facebook that no-one in my family knew about!:D

Sarasota in Florida. Great weather (apart from the hurricane season), great scenery, awesome coast, hot girls and good fishing.:D

Nowhere on the west coast because that quake's overdue. Nowhere on the east coast because it'll get swamped when bits of the Canary Islands fall off. And nowhere in the middle because it's compulsory to believe in Gaw-dawlmiyty! Plus it'll all get nuked when Yellowstone blows. (Mind you, we'll all be in the poop when that happens).

I would say Hawaii, but that's likely to slip into the Pacific depths if there's a big eruption. So, er... that leaves... um... nowhere.

Sounds about right. After all, there's a reason why regions like North America and Australia were populated very sparsely until recently. It's because every now and again something happens to reset the biological clock in those regions.

I like the UK. Nice and stable. :-)

PS If I *had* to choose it'd definitely be Washington, somewhere close to the Canadian border for a quick escape to Vancouver Island. It's a gorgeous part of the world, with a similar climate to here. I've never had much interest in travel, but if I ever go anywhere that'll be on the list, probably on my way to New Zealand and a quiet retirement a long way from WW3, The Great Oil War.

Nah! We traced back family history together and found our great grandfathers were brothers in a village in Ukraine. They are pretty damn well off! :)

In which case have you asked them for money?

lol I'm just kidding. Facebook does have its rare advantages and you've described one of them. I have found old friends from school and actually been able to contact them which makes it better than e.g. Friend's Reunited. Good to hear about long lost relatives, that's kind of cool.

If you were going to live in a US state, which would it be and why?

Factors such as people, crime, weather, cheapness...

California: Weather, mountains, skiing, yosemite, highway 1, Redwood NP, Sequoia NP, San-Fran, Death-Valley, coast/beaches, people, food, rock-climbing

Oregon/Washington: mountains, coast, mountains, skiing, snow, snow and more snow, forests, wilderness, Crater-lake

Utah: Rock formations, rock-climbing, high desert, driest powder snow in the world, powder, powder, climate, hot dry summer, Zion NP, Arches NP, Canyonland NP, Coral Reef, NP, Bryce Canyon NP.

Colorado: Mountains, climate, skiing, skiing, skiing

Wyoming: Grnad teton mountains, snow, snow and more snow, Jackson Hole. Yellowstone.

Whats better California or Florida?

Florida is definitely cheaper for houses and the weather is better, not sure about the people though...

I would say the weather is worse. High humidity, always rains, hurricanes and damaging storms, no proper seasonal variation.

California has a lovely dry heat and rarely gets too hot unless you are well in land in the Mojave desert/death valley. Anywhere along the coast is normally cool. Never gets very cold in winter but you still get a short winter season. Compeltely dry all summer. It will never eve rain in the summer. Winter sees sparse rainstroms pass through with wind and heavy rain for 4-8 hours at the most, then a week or 2 of dry sunny pleasant weather. And that rains makes the tahoe area the snowiest in the world. Autumn and spring are short but very sweet.
