Kind of a Bargain - 360 HD-DVD with remote

I found one deal but it wasn't with a remote, hd player and 3 films for £29.99, would appreciate a email if thats allowed.
The place I bought mine from specifically told me and three others that they don't come with remotes. Opened the box up and there's one sitting in the bottom under the drive :) . Might be worth asking instore if you can check the contents?

Its a good price and a bargain for what your getting, but i would have a few reservations. First of all, like others have said HD DVDs are very cheap to buy at the moment and have a nice collection available, but I wouldnt want to spend money on HDDVDs if in the future i was intending to buy Blu-Ray, as i wouldnt want to keep wheeling out my old HD player to play some old film that in a year or so times will be as cheap to get on BD. Also what happens in a couple of years down the road if the HD Drive breaks? Could you get a replacement player? If not you're left with a pile of unplayable HDDVDs only good enough to sell on the bay. I know for now its a good deal, but i get the feeling that it will be a waste of money in the future buying loads of HDDVDs.

Why buy computer games or consoles then?

Are they selling these at a loss then just to get rid of the stock? Seems a bargain if you already have a 360.

To be fair what he says does make sense you could get one and 13 months it breaks and there is no more about to get, you stuck with 30 hd dvd's.

if they are brand new then they WILL come with the remote, to my knowledge M$ don't ship them without it (unless by accident :p)

I believe there was a period when the HD-DVD drives came without remotes. After the initial release which came with the remote and king kong, they then released it with neither the remote or king kong for a short while before re-releasing it with just the remote and still no king kong which is what we generally have now. I am positive there was brief period after the initial release that they came with neither the remote nor king kong.

nothing about it on wiki (which i know isn't the defacto, but usually pretty good for this sort of thing), even mentions what films are/were still bundled with it and in which countries

The remote is hardly worth £20. £10 at most.

but costs £20, whether it's worth it or not, imo it's worth at least £15

A 10p VHS player is a bargain, I still wouldn't touch it with a 12 foot barge pole. Spending £300 on a PS3 is a far better purchasing decision than spending £20 on obsolete, redundant tech.

Thats one of the most laughable things Ive heard. Nobody wants VHS because its not as good quality or convenient to use as DVD, especially as DVD has been dirt cheap for several years.
Yet youre trying to say HD-DVD is less enjoyable than Blu-ray becayse HD-DVD doesnt have a long future
At the moment standard DVD has the best future until Blu-Ray players are being sold next to baked beans.

The people with the smiles on their faces are the ones watching high def movies for a fiver. Blu-Ray is not a big bang for the buck and a bad purchasing decision at £300.

I think that is the most important point being made here.

If you have a 360 already you can enjoy HD movies for £24.99.

To get the same on BR will set you back at least 10 times that amount EASY for a player and 2 movies.

The quality on the screen will be identical, now see who is laughing :p

I am seriously thinking about getting a hd-dvd now. Blu-ray is way too expensive at the moment. It only won the high quality dvd war because of the ps3 imo.

Yep and bankrupted themselves in the process.

Now that Blu-Ray has won, the sales of Blu-Ray disc has taken a downturn...

Surely the Films cost no more than that to make, plus economy of scale would have helped if they were shifting a lot of them.

I'm sure would have been more expensive than DVDs to make and they're still £10 each for new films

You've also got to pay all of the middle men in between and the studio themselves
