afaik you have to be accompanied by a qualified instructor at all times before passing on a bigger bike. I went and bought a 5 day course last week for my DAS.

i passed and have loved it ever since.

pulling up next to amost any sports car in a £1400 hornet knowing that you will dust them 0-60 (which i reckon to be sub 4 secs), well, its grin making.

but do you have to have your own bike, or are there places like BSM which will let you use their cars in the test and to learn in? Also do you need to buy things like a helmet and safety gear? Or can you borrow these too?

I always thought you bought a course pack which includes bike hire. I'm looking to get a 125 in the near future then pass my 125 test and get a 400 or something, but i need to raise the money first :( I have my car license, but the cost of car insurance is obscene afaic especially compared to bike insurance. Hopefully if i find a summer job i should be able to get a cbt and all the equipment to get a 125 get a little bit of experience on the road, after all, for all i know i might not like it! Somehow doubt that though as i love going down a big hill on my mountain bike then leaning into a corner :p My dad has a Triumph Bonneville 750 sitting in the back of the garage, thats always fascinated me, big kick start lever, followed by a roaring engine :D
 
cool. i have a car licence but i hate driving - too much traffic. much prefer riding my bicycle as i can filter through and rarely have to stop - and it is good exercise. but am really considering a motorbike in the future for longer journeys and rainy / cold days :D
 
To the OP... Are you actually talking about choppers, or about cruisers? Totally different things... Choppers are extreme, modified cruisers essentially, usually very stylised and deliberately over the top, with a lot of attention paid to form over function. Cruisers on the other hand are more or less funny shaped normal bikes. They do tend to corner and brake less well than sports bikes but nothing like as badly as the typical chopper, which to be blunt is for looking at.
 
I'd ask my ex-biker mate of his views if he could reply, alas, he crashed his Chop and now has the same lifestyle as a Cabbage - the non talking kind -, imo He'd have been better off if the accident had killed him. :(

So I think I'd say no.

all trikes can be ridden on a car licence just need B1 on your licence witch is part of cat B and you only get that on your bike licence if you passed before 2000
bit of a stupid law though as you could jump on my trike having never ridden a bike before:eek::confused:

VERY nice.. what happens if the front lifts on a trike then ?, I assume it would under power and with all the extra traction. I'd guess it beats a normal busa off the line also :)
 
Your Busa trike is awesome. That is what I will be riding once my MS finally takes my balence away for good.

yes the front lifts just like any big bike under power allthough i cant stear when its up so have to make sure im pointing the right way :D:p
dont think its amy faster than a deristriced busa off the line but it aint slower
will find out this year sometime hoping to do a run what ya brung at the pod
 
well hats off to you man, that must take a lot of guts to get back to biking again, but you done it with style, then some :)

used to own a early busa and I think everyone needs to experience the busa wave of torque and horizon warping once in their life

got my first bike at 8 years old done a bit of moto cross at school first bike on the road at 16 ect
im 40 this year its in my blood for me there was no choice i was gona get back in the sadle it was just how
the trike aint the same as riding a bike but its close
still get that buzz money just cant bye ;):D
 
Fantastic machine that... Funny, I'd seen it on another forum as a discussion point when a member lost his left leg (in a car crash, not a bike crash), the modified shifter etc. Where there's a will...

not rude at all mate
i just lift one leg up on to the seat then lift myself over on to it
then i strap my feet on and another strap over my legs to stopp myself doing the splits at speed :D
i have got a rack on it aswell [not in the pic] so i can take my chair with me
i get on like this bloke

Impressed by that, very slick setup on the bike and to be honest (and no disrespect intended) you could believe it was faked seeing how easy he gets on and off.

BTW Very very tasty Busa you have there. :cool:
