Anyone here in the FM Live Beta?

I got my invite yesterday - brilliant game I must say. Does not work through our work proxy (which in a way is a good thing), so played it last night.

Love the skills system! Played 3 friendlies so far, 2 draws and a win, including a last min comeback from 2-0 down.

(team is Falkirk Athletic)

What server have you gone on rafster?

I'm on GW8. rafster isn't in my GW, I searched for his team :p

In the last few days we've had a massive increase in managers joining. We had around 200 to start with and I've just checked and it's up to 703 managers!

Whats it like?

I heard its rubbish, with a horrid interface.

I have played every FM since CM days 00/01 and I have no desire to buy this. Not paying for it monthly
Same. Been with FM since FM05 and I don't fancy the idea of monthly payments for this kind of thing. Would like to know what it is like though. :)

The interface and everything about the actual look of the game is identical to FM as we all know it.

There are a few differences though which make it all the more exciting. For example:

Squads. Everyone starts with a set wage budget (£100,000) and a transfer fund, known as aquisition fees (£500,000) and you have to assemble a squad of between 16-20 players using that cash. You can spend as much as or as little as you like, the more you spend the better players you can obtain. EG: Mido has an acquisition fee of £160,000 whereas Messi is somewhere around £3m in my game world, and because of this he is still a freebie.

This prevents people having awesome squads by simply being the first into the game world.

Players can be signed (freebies) by bidding for their contracts. This starts a 24hr bidding war and the highest bidder gets him. The acquisition fees dont change, unless they are of course private transfers.

Also, when you start you get to choose a skill train, depending on what type of manager you see yourself. Then you have to learn skills to develop as a manager and this takes real life time. For example, Level 1 tactics takes 40mins to learn and allows you to have access to team instructions. This again means those people with the best players wont always win if their skill train isnt as good as someone elses.

I don't want to go into too much detail for obvious reasons.

That bit sounds cool. :)

Which are? :p

I've just signed up and started playing, I'm quite impressed so far.
I also managed to nab Edgar Davids in my starting squad, result! :D

I signed up for the beta yesterday or I should say I signed up on the Sega page but not sure if this is enough for me to get the FM live beta or if its still a hit or miss if you get into the beta testing or not.

Ditto. Done the same. Not expecting to get in to the beta but you never know! Fingers crossed... I need something to keep me entertained while my 360 is off for repair (AGAIN!)

I am impressed with it, you cant expect to play a game online with 40 other people in a few leagues and not expect to pay a monthly fee, my reckoning is it will be around £5-6 a month, seems well worth it to me.

Build your squad, save or spend your money or save for the future, train skills over time and scout new players its pretty cool.

To learn a skill, you simply select the one you want to learn and drag it with your mouse into a training box. Typically, a skill has five levels to learn. Each level takes a certain time to accomplish, so whilst ‘finishing level 1’ will have your players finishing improving within a matter of minutes, an advanced target like ‘Finance level 5’ will take you more than a month to master.

With a manager only able to train in one skill at any one time, deciding when and what to learn is fundamental to getting the most out of your club. Your skill training goes on 24/7, so once you’ve decided what to train in you can get on with playing matches, chatting to other managers, or even log off- you’ll still be learning your desired skill.

Learning all the skills that will be in place for the launch of Football Manager Live will take managers up to a whopping six years of play, and there are plans to add lots more skills to the game due to the dev teams model of constant development, which will allow new features to be added to the game over time. The system will help managers specialise in the areas that they want to be experts in, and is expected that friends inside the gameworlds will help each other out utilising their skills to do this.

Sounds like they have taken a few ideas from Eve Online, one things for sure I am getting in on this one from the beginning :)

I'm loving it and I can't wait for the final release when all the FM fans at work can join in, there's going to be full on wars over results and transfers.

edit - been in beta for a week or so

Just got a beta invite for a game world opening on Monday, have to say im really excited to get the chance to try this out :) .

How have you guys whove been playing for a while been getting on with it?

Got the invite this afternoon and I've been accepted :D Well chuffed - been waiting a long time to try this baby out ;)

A monthly fee for a glorified teletext is laughable really lets hope they don't get enough sign ups and it ends up free.
