Please please please post your court dates when you get them.

I'm sure that a few of those would like to attend.

Personally gonna bring; large popcorn, pick'n'mix bag - sours and a big drink with a straw to sip from :D

Plonker.

I am in no way excusing it, as people have said, if you cant do the time dont do the crime. However i really dont think its something to get this wound up about, its a common every day thing which people do all the time, every single day. If you took all the times people have drink driven in the entire country, how many actually result in even getting caught, let alone causing anyone any harm?

it IS something to get this wound up about, how would you feel if your child / parent / partner was out and someone drink driving hit them and killed / disabled them?

it isn't much to ask people to respect the lives of others and not to drive when they are inebriated. I think if you are going to drive the legal limit should be 0, no alcohol at all. This way there is no excuse.

It is just a shame that you don't automatically get killed for drink driving, it is a disgusting offence, and damages so many peoples' lives every day. This is the problem with this country - no respect for anything or anyone. Just wait for the day someone under the influence affects your life, and then you will have a different point of view.

The offence is still there.

The likelyhood of getting arrested for it is extremely low. If you are arrested for it, the likelyhood of the custody sergeant authorising your detention is even lower and would most likely NFA the case on the spot. The likelyhood of police proceeding to charge you for it is even smaller. The likelyhood of the CPS willing to prosecute for it is smaller again and the likelyhood of a magistrate punishing you for it is microscopic.

But the offence has still been committed. :)

Im calling BS on this im afraid. As ive said, that means ive commited your so called offence every time ive been out.

Look at what your saying. Basically, your trying to say that being in possession of a car key while drunk is an offence.... So pickin my keys off the floor as i go to bed having drunk a few is an offence? having my keys in my pocket when my car is miles away is an offence? No. There must be the 'intent' on actually using it. Possession is not an offence, and If you like, i will find a bobby when im out tonight and ask them.

It lacks comedy now, just like he did in the last thread, the guy comes off as a gormless moron.
Hopefully you dont learn your lesson and are involved in a tragic single car accident next time. :)

Why the rolleyes? You drink drive like a complete idiot, post it on a forum and come off like you've done nothing wrong. People like you are absolute scum, drink driving is one of the most stupid things to do ever, you're a disgrace.

Im guessing you are in the same situation as me. Drink driving has effected you so you will never show any tollerance to drink drivers ever. I also agree, 0 should be the limit.

The most tragic thing is people like him dont think its a problem untill after they have killed someone...

Trade plates are used to enable untaxed cars to be driven by traders. They still have to have an appropriate insurance policy.
I realise he'd still need the appropriate insurance, I was just thinking that if he had been taking the car out for a 'test drive' from a dealer then he'd have had it on trade plates - which it wasn't. I guess this isn't the case then if the car is still taxed?

Lol, yes, correct, it is technically an offence. But like I said, very very very unlikely to have any action taken against.

If you don't believe me, here goes:

Section 5 Road Traffic Act 1988:

If a person drives, attempts to drive, or is in charge of a motor vehicle on a road or other public place after consuming so much alcohol that the proportion of it in his breath, blood or urine exceeds the prescribed limit he is guilty of an offence.

Four points to prove:

The vehicle was a motor vehicle.
It was on a road or other public area.
The accused was driving, attempting to drive or in charge of a motor vehicle.
They had comsumed so much alcohol that the proportion in their breath, blood or urine exceeded the prescribed limit.

Definition of 'in charge of':

Technically speaking, whoever has the keys of a car is in charge of it. In addition, there was always be someone in charge of a vehicle unless it has been abandoned. However, for a prosecution to be successful under this section, there must be a likelihood of this person actually driving the vehicle whilst they are over the limit.

There you have it, as I said before, you would still commit the offence, but never be prosecuted for it.

Even if you go out on the p*** in London, your car is in Newcastle and you leave your keys at your holiday home in Devon, you are still technically in possession of those keys, so still commit the offence, and an officer could arrest you for it if he really wanted to for the matter to be investigated. But the custody sergeant would most likely release you straight away with no further action.

Oh please, your making this worse for yourself. That last comment you made basically says its illegal to be drunk if you own a car!

Seriously, you think we give a **** about the specifics. You quite clearly dont care, have no respect for anyone or anything around you, including the law, yet continue to try to defend yourself in a thread YOU started that basically pins you as a stupid ****.

As I said before:

Shut up, Pack up, **** off!
