Firstly, you might want to fully star out the swearies.

Secondly, not one person in the thread was laughing at the fact she is disabled, so no need to get out of your tree.

Thirdly, it's a pretty funny pic regardless of who is stood there.

Actually people aren't mocking her disability, Down's isn't as well known as other diseases I doubt most realise what it is she has.

They're also just mocking her for looking a bit *funny*, same jokes would fly out if she was a *normal* kid in e.g. big glasses / ginger?

Whilst I appreciate your comments Nightstalker I will say it was the absurdity of the photo that made me laugh. It wasn't until a 2nd and possibly 3rd look at the photo that I saw that this woman was downs.

It did make me feel bad, my laughter was not at disability but at the photo itself even if a "normal" athelete was in the middle the photo would still have been as funny imho.

Speaking as someone whose brother suffered shocking abuse because of his disability I can understand your point.

The photo does not annoy me as the one saying arguing on the internet is like disabled olympics. That one being posted should ensure a ban on a site like this.

I have seen that picture so many times and I have laughed every time.

I only just realised because of this thread that the girl in it has downes. It doesn't make it any more, or less funny.

The photo is funny regardless of who is in it, why do people just jump straight on the "OMG you are racist, sexist etc etc...." its funny, hell im ginger and people make jokes out of me, i dont cry, its FUNNY so i laugh with them. You are the ones saying the downs people are different from us, while we didnt even notice them as downs at all!! so your at fault, not us!

whatever way you look at it, its wrong to laugh at someone who is put in a situation that makes that person look stupid. It even worse when that person has a disablity. None of you will ever realise what its like unless you have a member of your family who has such a disablity. If I'm over reacting then I'm sorry, I'm very protective of my sister and have been since school, I never approved of people laughing at those that are less fortunate then themselves,

You do have a point but it is surprising how many people jump on the "offended" bandwagon because they somehow feel they should rather than that they genuinely are. My wife and sister-in-law are both from Kazakhstan, did we all laugh at Borat? we sure did though it would have been so easy for them to be all "OMG! he can't say that, that's ridiculous, offensive stereotyping, I'm gonna sue.."

Yes but specifically using a disabled person due to the fact that the won't twig what's going on is completely different.

Although I'm sure it's photoshopped, least I hope no one would be so cruel, it is that kind of humour that is not right. It is after all someone's sister/brother child.
