was thinking of getting this after seeing it in a shop but thought i will do my homework on it before i buy it.So is it worth the pennies.Me being a fps and driving game player will i like it.

if you've not played it before, which sounds like you haven't, buy it. Possibly/probably the game of last year. Almost certainly the strongest game in terms of story, infact, it just was, strong graphically, gameplay is nice though I played witha 360 pad I can imagine a mouse is way better for it. I hate almost everything of late, and there are downsides, most of the driving is awful in the game, almost everyone agree's on that, i did all the sidemissions pretty much when I played but really theres little reason to do so, if you skipped all the sidemissions it would be a brilliant game and plenty long enough.

One of the best value games of the last 2-3 years based on price vs hours to complete the main story let alone the side stuff.

Just buy it, being that its one of if not THE best game of recent years its a brilliantly writen story from Bioware who have a huge pedigree in these games(kotor games before this) and this is the first of a trilogy of games on the story. Its not a sucky trilogy where you get one story, split up and stretched out, its a story heavy game with a great finish, as in it feels like a great ending, not just a cliffhanger that makes you want to smash your face in because the next game is over a year away(hl2 series like). Will most likely turn into the best trilogy ever made on the PC which means you really don't want to miss the first one ;)

I have played the 360 version and, to be honest, I didn't like it. I really just didn't get on with it storywise, characterwise, gamewise.

Loved the 360 version, have not completed it yet but finding it quite hard even on the easy settings. Definately worth a punt.

Reviews for the PC version are looking good so far. I wish I didn't have a dissertation on the go :(

Its not bad tho i have only played it for 30 mins so far and just met ashley. The interface is going to take some getting used to theres a lot of interface to get through. The gfx while high poly and high textures in most of it, to me on my system (x1950pro 512mb agp) theres lots of shimmering and really blured objects at a small distance away (with blur turned off btw) so im not happy about the crap draw distance for high quality stuff showing.

The voices i recognise some of them i think some of the voice actors from kotor games are in this atton i think hes called or one of the first male companions from one of the kotor games is in it. The women at start on the ship is from star trek final unity as some women from a warbird i think she played the romulan captain in tng where troy was made a tal shiar operative. Think there was another voice i recognised as well but not sure the name or place where from.

Story seems ok so far from what i have seen. Just a shame the gfx are nice but have lots of problems i.e draw distance for quality mode is short and also shimmering tho probably my card or somit i duno its recently been like that with all my games and i duno why.

I haven't finished the game yet, and I'm on the 360 version, but I agree with everything you've said. Mass Effect is almost worth passing up KotoR III for ;) Best RPG I've played since KotoR I, and depending on how the rest of the game plays out for me, possibly the best I've ever played.

If you like RPGs, story driven games, immersive narratives, emotion charged decision making, ace graphics, stellar voice acting and a decent combat system to boot, buy the game.

Hell, if you like any of the previous qualities, buy the thing.

Found it extreamly boring, its either the fact I'm just getting bored of gaming or the fact it actually is really boring and crappy.

thanks for replys guys.Well i think i will get it because i need a change in style of gameplay for a bit and give my steering wheel a break;) think it was on the preorder counter if i remember so not sure if it is out yet by me.But will have a look round for it.

very poor graphics in mass effect, looks just like other console games, and runs like a console port does. texture quality is very poor even on the highest setting, even halflife 2 had better texture quality than mass effect. but what more can you expect from a console game graphics wise.

the game is very slow paced. but once the action starts its ok but not all that great. controls feel like its console based and just doesnt have that feel a quality pc game does. best part i like is being able to level up the characters and buy new gear etc. but that seems to wear off after a while too.
and saving is a joke too, cant save whenever you would like to like in proper pc games.
willhub summed it up best, its booring.
an over rated console port which could have been good if it was designed from the ground up for the pc platform.

Is it anything like KOTOR? Contrary to popular opinion I thought KOTOR was dull and lacked any real Star Wars feel.

I'm a little more optimistic about this game because it is an original universe as far as I know.

No idea whats going on with the rendering of this game. Its terrible. I hope they can patch it so its fixed as i dont really wana continue playing when AF is so poor. And yes ive tryed maxing my settings ingame which they are and out of game in ATT nothing worked tryed forced aa and af but they do squat.

What the ****? I was expecting this to be one of the rare occasions I don't pirate a game before I buy it, but now I've seen that I want to see if it happens on my computer before I spend a penny on it.

The graphics are amazing for me here. The environments okay aren't the best, but the character models look great.

When I tried it it was smooth here, 1680x1050 all high. did not really try any AA/AF but the problem is I got lots of stuttering :s.

Other things that I find abit stupid is this like black border? Like a inverted cloud or something? And some shadows look really weird.
