I'm fairly sure that the PSU has a problem, but it's a bit odd. Switching on the PSU seems to send power to the motherboard (and fans), but only for about 1 second. I've tried a second PSU and the rest of the kit looks fine. Anyone seen this or any idea if the PSU is fixable.

Most annoying is that the 3yr warranty expired about 4 months ago

it's a hyper it was only a matter of time before it went. if you've tried it with another psu and that works. It's almost certainly a hyper.

so many of us have had them blow up. Shows you how recommendations can be so wrong.

When mine went I lost all my usb ports :(.. So if you haven't lost anything your very lucky.

And other people have been unlucky and lost pretty much everything.

Never realised they had a poor history. I've only just bought a Hiper TypeM 630w for my main PC. Seems very good so far, more efficiency and better voltages on the rails than my old Antec 430W.

I had this same problem with my previous motherboard and amd 6000+ x2 cpu, powered by my hiper 580w type r, fans would come on for 1 sec and system would turn off, before that, i was having random shutdowns, were you?

I thought it was the motherboard but after a few weeks I got the motherboard working with another cpu with the hiper psu, and since I upgraded to another mobo/cpu (see sig) I am still using the hiper in my machine, I am thinking since it had all that rest its fine again now, and might have been under stress before  even though I had been using it for a long time without problems before.

strange events.
