When I find a 'God' logo and Windows sticker on the Universe I might agree but until then I'm agnostic and heavily leaning towards atheist.

If irrefutable proof was shown, one way or the other I would be happy to believe it.

Just like string theory..

and branes of 11 dimensions...

all scientific faith.

I thought the question was something to the effect about believing in God not religion? (responding to earlier comments)

Agnostic. Science was not built to prove or disprove the existence of a deity. Science can never prove it or disprove it.

I also tend to think that if there was a God, then being tied into one religion to live by a set of rules in order to appease a being that has more power than you could ever possibly imagine, is a bit silly.

I'm keeping my mind open. If something should happen to me that proves it or disproves it, so be it. But for now, I will remain unsure as it can't be proven either way.

It's undisputeable that the threat of terrorism (oh yeah, that little gem spawned from religion) being no-longer present would be a weight off quite a few people's minds.

Religion, in this day and age, causes a lot more problems than it solves, i feel.

That is exactly how I feel. I've got nothing against religious people, if they want to believe and everything, then let them, but I think that religion is more of a problem-starter than a problem-solver...

Like I said in my previous post. The society of this planet cannot live with more than 1 religion...

I disagree. We're on a never ending quest to **** our fellow man over, for the most part. Sure there are decent people, but anyone with power just wants some more. Religion is the best reason to try and gain more power because you have a great deal of commited people willing to do the fighting. If religion didn't exist, the people at the top of any organization/government would simply find another way to do it. A prime example of this is anything related to "communism" in the early part of last century.

Power corrupts. While religion is to blame for a lot of problems, a lot of fighting an whole ton of war, it also just happens to be the best reason. As I said, if there was no religion, we'd find another way to try and kill each other.

I don't see why people who have no faith want to mock those who do.

take a look at cargo cults - bunch of simple islanders seem some cargo planes, think they are sent from gods etc.. then build runways, wooden control towers etc.. in the hope the planes will come to visit them again.... Tis laughable because we know what a plane is etc... and know there isn't anything supernatural about it.

I don't think that taking really old books at face value i.e. the bible, koran etc.. is much different tbh... look at the bible it is a collection of various manuscripts/books that some primitive people put together based on political decisions at the time - there were other gospels, books etc.. that were not included in the bible - given that primitive people can convert their whole society into a bunch of plane worshiping simpletons I don't think many of the Middle Eastern people responsible for Christianity, Judaism and Islam are any more credible.

IMO the only intelligent/credible POV is to be agnostic - Personally I'm torn between being a Christian with very little faith and agnostic - rationally conventional religion makes no sense but I'd hope there is something out there.

No, I don't belive in a God. I say 'a God' because let's be fair, there are plenty to choose from. Similarly I have some difficulty believing astrologers, palmists, tea leaf readers or anything else that's oh so exquisitely beyond objective validation.

How can one speak of credibilty on religion, when its all faith?

Agnostic is a faith and no different than having a faith in god.

One who believes that it is impossible to know whether there is a God has faith in this concept.

I think agnosticism is not a faith. You don't "have faith" that you're not sure about something...

Lets weigh up the evidence.

Why does a god allow war, disease, cruelty, flood, famine, earthquake, serial killers, pedos, animal abuse, child leukemia, brain tumours, malaria, aids, amputated limbs not to grow back and Joe Pasquale? However, we are allowed flowers, birds, the curves of a beautiful woman and the laughter of a child. If there is a god, he taunts us for his own amusement. Therefore he/her/it is a total ****.

The real answer is simple, the world is as it is due to the fact it evolved and I am awestruck everyday at the malevoence and magnificance of nature. Long may it continue, hopefully without the primitives stuck in a medieval work thinking there is a god.

What has any of that got to do with the existence of a deity? None of that is evidence either way.

I think what you mean is that if there is a God you hate him, so you place faith in there not being a God.

no

but i can sort of understand why people do believe in a god and the possibility that a 'thing' created everything, but religion - what a load of old crap - its so obviously made up by humans - the only thing keeping religion alive is the fact that people are brainwashed as children, usually by their parents - people are slaves to their programming.

God doesn't allow these things.

All the things you mention are Manifestations of man.
